  1. Nothing wrong with BCF as long as you know what ya after. They quite often have decent specials. It is a shame that a lot of the staff have very little idea, how about some of the blokes on here go for a job there rather than shit canning the place.ps; I'd work there in a flash if i could somehow do it as a second job, but cant see it working. Being surrounded by camping and fishing gear all day would be awesome.
  2. Yep, they work MarsOne, the big thing though is getting the distance.
  3. AFF - Spanyid is the brand, Raider is the model. So right on the money. Ive used the Spanyid Raiders and Snipers to good effect before, Halco Twistys are usually a winner also.
  4. possibly needs tuning.drag it through the water slowly and see if it goes to a side rather than running straight. if it does, gently bend the tow point in the opposite direction a bit. test and go from there.
  5. Nup, no spare spool.
  6. Thanks fishnuts, i appreciate your info re the innovator rods. Ill have to do a little more research and have a bit more of a chat about them and some of the other similarly priced rods [velocity 7 was going for 320 by the way].Good to hear the reel is a good pick.Ill let you know how i go.
  7. Awesome mate. Ripper fish on your own fly, nice one.I am just looking at getting into saltwater fly, targetting bream, schoolies and flatties. Setup i have been looking at is an Innovator Velocity #7 with a Shimano Biocraft LA78, using a WF-7-I. Can i get your opinion on this? Obviously your using a 7 weight. Do you find this over or under powered for the local fish? May i ask what rod/reel your using?
  8. LedLenser have the gear ya want. And a close second would be Petzl.
  9. Id primarily expect to be catching trout, redfin and bream on these babies, with plenty of other bycatch [salmon trout, mullies, whiting etc] depending on where your fishing...The lures in FWF being reccomended for callop were Jackall Mask 60s and 70s. I would suggest these are probably a bit small for callop [in terms of the fishes well being, small lures going deep] at only 40mm.
  10. They definitely work mate, i have used wrigglers quite a bit there. Use the lightest jig weight possible for the conditions [consider water depth, current, where the fish are holding etc] and match the right hook size [should come out about one third down your plastic]. Then just chuck them right into the middle of the nastiest structure you can find using the lightest leader you can bare to...Fish will also definitely hold in the shallows along banks, particularly the side being hit by the wind, work those areas hard too.
  11. Old thread i know, but im bored.Since noone really answered the question other than WB being able to get it in for you.I know that Fishermans Paradise stock Sunline.
  12. ya not wrong.. a nice tax return [which im expecting] will cover it easily. cant wait to get out and give it a flick.
  13. fell off the wagon slightly again when i visited Fishermans Paradise last night...walked out with a new Alphas 103 loaded with 15lb Sunline Super PE, and a Pfleuger Tournament Trion CA621M [6'2" 4-8kg 1pc]..also noticed they had some of the new lures id been waiting for, but might have to pop back next week or later some time.. :S
  14. Very nice setup Saltiga!
  15. For lure casting, high-vis is the go, orange, yellow or green are my favourites. There are some instances [trout fishing] where you may want a duller line, ie; smoke grey or dark green, but your leader should help out with that anyway, and the ability of high-vis to show you subtle ticks on your line is priceless.
  16. Put any shape, colour, size of plastic in front of them and theyll hit it...If all else fails though, something with a bit of flash cant hurt.

Look very nice Weaver, now to see how good you are with an airbrush hey?
  18. Ahhh sweet mate. The 1000D is a really nice unit. The 18-55mm lens is a great starter for portraits & landscapes as well, and suits fishing pics perfectly. Larger lenses have there obvious benefits but i find myself using the 18-55mm more than any other. An interesting option to consider for fishing photos would be a true macro lens, I've been thinking of getting one, but since i dont usually carry the DSLR shore bashing it seems pointless.one tip; UV and polarising filters are a must IMO.
  19. LL - hah, no mate... just having a quick splurge as i havent in a while, and getting a mortgage sooner or later, so taking advantage before hand.Brenton - Jackall Mask Vibes are silent, so a good lure to have in the mix with all the louder rattlers as well, weigh in at 16.5g
  20. Slow sinkers, not really for jigging as the tow point is at the front rather than on the top, but more for a slow roll off the bank, through the shallow etc... but can also be fished deep with a sink and slow lift retrieve.
  21. Hadn't done it in ages [i swear....], but found myself logged into Ichiban Tackle and having a cruise around... Ended with there arriving on the door this morning.Jackall Baby Girons [slow sinking/jointed] - callop obviously... but im also planning on trying trout on small swimbaits.MegaBass Vibration-X UltrasJackall Mask Vib70s [plastic/HB hybrid]But its not all about the lipless... I also picked these up locally over the weekend.Halco Poltys and CombatOh yer... and lookout trout;Rapala XR6 - brown trout patternMMMmmm oh yer... the addiction settles slightly for a while. Will be using them to
  22. Isn't "hellfish" a referance to the competition's sponsor?
  23. Never seen or used that rod, but i have the certate 2500R and you'd be hard pressed to beat it.
  24. Yeh, all my gear gets cared for fairly well
