  1. I have read elsewhere Carp are good crab bait but I don't have any personal intel on that. I have a freezer full of KGW heads & frames and Squid heads/guts I need to soak before I need to chase Carp. Also any shitties trumpeters we catch get a quick knifing and into the nets. These all seem to work.
  2. I did mine with Capt Bouc at his home on Woolnough Rd Semaphore about 5 yrs ago at $90.00, I think it has risen a bit in price now. Was theory in a group reading through the book with Q & A. Then the exam while he cooked a BBQ lunch. Then self marked the test with the Capt and any wrong answers were doubly explained and corrected. Then BBQ lunch and of to Garden Island for a couple of hours playing in his boat and then given paperwork for motor reg. I don't have his details anymore sorry.
  3. nice start to the new season gypo , but how do you get out on a Tuesday? or don't you have a real job?

  6. http://www.strikehook.com/index.php/topic/24879-kayak-snapper-and-snook/page-2 another Kelvin post, who else catches snapper in a kayak?
  7. Everything I catch & take home gets used 1 way or another. Eat the fillets then the frames go in crab nets or Snapper bait. Squid heads, old re frozen bait, and frames I put in Super G's kitchen wiz. you know the one with the clear bowl? Last time decided to throw a handful of cockles in to make a smorgasbord for the fishies. Well that was clever, they stayed whole for a while and scored the hell out of the inside of the bowl so much ya can't see through it now. 1 happy G? not really. berley goes in a 4" X 8" PVC weighted pipe cage made by 1 of my plumbers and down to the bottom to attra
  8. I haven't. The Super G and I just sat on our a55es at the waters edge and got our quota in 40 minutes, Poops
  9. Nice mate really nice, now if it had Sachin cover driving Swann for 6 in the foreground it would be stunning.
  10. So with the way the state is going - businesses closing, laying off of public servants, infrastructure problems ( roads & water pipes in bad condition), health and education funding cuts, etc, etc, etc, THIS major announcement requires the Premier and Treasurer to release it? WOW what a huge difference this will make to all our lives. People will flock to the state to start up business because of this! My 2 cents and my opinion only, rant over.
  11. aaaahhhh, sorry, didn't look at the kit, thought fishing in general. fair bump play on
  12. Nah mate, fish all year round.
  13. Semaphore to Silt grounds Sunday. Got some new spots(to me anyway) to try
  14. Really need to know what flavours Kman, dont want to go through a whole packet of lollies to find the right one. Not a weird bait but we used to catch tommies on bare hooks, probably as they shone like a little lure.
  15. Red Mullet for sure - wife loves them but only if fresh. Google recipes for them, there are heaps. other one also not sure
  16. When I was lad before limits, at low tide out the front of our shack @ Pt Augusta Dad & I would pick a heap and take to mum on the beach to shell then we would go back out for a fish. By the time we arrived back for tea they were ready - raw with a variety of sauces. Any left mum would pickle for us to annoy work mates the next week while they ate vegemite sangas. My vote is raw as you can lose the taste when pickled.
  17. Thanx for organising bj and a special thanx to the sponsors Looking at the weather, wind & tides there should be heaps of reports to come. I know we will be having a crack. Oh hell, didn't check moon phase
  18. Had a crack at Snapper with Ale, Moggy, Ryan, Tihull & 4tha over summer but not the best results. Nice tug of war by Ale and a big though Tried Tuna for the first time & scored, thanx Mog & Ryan. Got my mate on a boat for the first time in 20 odd years for legal KGW's. Didn't even get a crabbing session in this summer Moved home and boat don't fit and steering stuffed. Hopefully rectified this week end (thanx Mog). Now looking forward to winter @ the wrong spot for KGW's & flatties

  20. Good to see older wolves helping the cubs. Hope it helps find heaps of fish for you K man. Technically it's a Decor' Tellfresh container not Tuperware hate someone from Decor' to go all legal on you.

  22. I quote -Ornate Cowfish (Aracana ornata)The ornate cowfish is a species of boxfish native to the Eastern Indian Ocean. When stressed, boxfish will release a toxin through their mucous secretions known as ostratoxin. This poison is unique to the boxfish and is toxic to other fishDon't know if its toxic to humans but I handle them with a towel.
