  1. Does it have to be pink? The Shimano terez series are a 'pretty' rod. Pearl white blank and silver trimmings. I believe the american version of them come in an array of colours.
  2. To all the FG tyers here, buy one of these.. I bought one early last year, it will give you perfect FGs first time every time. I think I tie them in 2-3 minutes now.
  3. Is it worth fishing just before or after the runs with unweighted worm style plastics? As the fish will be zoned in on a particular food source. Or does fishing just completely shut down?
  4. Dusky Morwong, also known as Strongfish. Pretty elusive and hard to tempt. Bread bait and bread and tuna oil berley trail is your best bet I think.
  5. You could get 10 Fin Nor Lethals for the price of a Saltiga though. It only got 17 points less. 80/100.
  6. In that case try a mono leader instead as fluorocarbon doesn't have much stretch either. When targeting big fish you want the extra give mono provides.
  7. In your original post you said you were using 85lb 'fireline' leader. Are you using braid all the way to your hooks? This would explain pulled hooks on the strike if you are.
  8. Good choice mate, love my Daiwa rods. Their rods are definitely a class above Shimano's in my opinion.
  9. Have a look at these http://www.plat.co.jp/shop/catalog/product_info/language/en/products_id/14953/cPath/21_38_51_2431_1960/saltwater-fishing.html The 70ml seems to sound on the money from your specs.
  10. I have it on my iPhone. Worked a treat last weekend after I marked some nice looking ledges in Deep Creek Conservation Park. The app helped immensely in pin pointing the correct ledge and then navigating us there.
  11. Have a look at the Penn Prevail Surf rods. The specs look pretty good, K series guides and under $150. That would be my pick.
  12. Hopefully I can get out for a fish. But, we all know Alexsfishin1 has this in the bag already!
  13. I have a Crostage Seabass K 862L for land based luring.I have only used it once so far but it seems to be a very good stick for the price. The finish is very good.I bought it from Japan as the prices seem to be double down here. Here's a vid of a bloke landing a sizeable kingy on the 9ft version.http://youtu.be/p9z4W7vnjEU
  14. Any one know if any of the local shops stock these Stickbaits. Either the Silstar Slapstix, Slug-gos or something similar? They look like this:PM me if you would like.
  15. If someone hasn't mentioned them before, the Storm gomoku range would be great all rounders.Either the blue, pe1-3,160g jig weight or red model pe0.8-1.5, I think 120g jig weight.Fuji guides and reel seat for $149.Sure, the taper is different to australian rods and very parabolic, but they sure look cool with a fish on.I'm not sure those zings would handle a whole tommy? But I could be wrong.Match it up with a 3000 shimano or 2500 daiwa and you couldn't go wrong.
  16. The 80mm Squidgy Fish in Silver Fox was my go to sp for bream in the onk.
  17. I think common sense comes into it. Fishing 86lb braid shouldn't break a pe5 rod. As long as you don't high stick it or fish stupidly high drag settings the rod should be fine.Ill add something else here, most Japanese rods with pe ratings usually state a maximum drag weight in their specs.
  18. I believe pe is the unit of measurement that the Japanese use to measure a lines diameter. It's not a breaking strain as such.As a general rule. Pe 1 is 10lb, 2 20lb etc. But you can have a Japanese line which is pe3 that breaks at 50lb.
  19. If you want to try a different braid, go with sunline super pe. I use it in 10lb on 2 reels and 20lb on another.Haven't had a single wind knot.
  20. 10lb Braid with a 12 or 15lb fluorocarbon leader for me.If there is a chance of flathead or snapper go the heavier leader.
  21. Looks like shimano have revised the original weights stated. The 5000 only 16oz and the 6000 is now only 16.4oz or 464g http://fish.shimano.com/publish/content/global_fish/en/us/index/products/reels/saltwater_spinning/Saragosa_SW.html
  22. Just realised the youtube links didn't work on desktop computers, here they are:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZoA592UJgI4
  23. Just going to chuck this idea out there.Could it make it easier to work a soft plastic, jig, lure etc? And maybe get a better action out of your artificial?Hard to explain, but think of a seesaw with your hand in the middle. It's most probably a weight saving method though.
  24. I bet it feels good. How'd you get it mate? Live bait, popper, stickbait or jig?
