  1. This is mine. Recon i've posted it before somewhere? 150mm floats on electrical pvc conduit axles. I didnt make it tho , one of Mozzies from Gotcha Fishing Tackle! Catch bag, landing net, rod holder, fish measure sticker, webbing belt for towing & crab gauge tied on somewhere there too.
  2. I was wondering what techniques folks use when fishing in the dark to determine when they are getting proper bites, strikes ect when not holding the rod? Im primarily thinking about land based beach where the rod is left in a holder while waiting for things to happen. I have used the little glow sticks near the rod tip but then you have to watch things. Other than that i use a correctly (?!) set drag which generally stirs me up from a slumber when a fish grabs & runs. I must say that im not at all nocturnal and find night fishing really hard work, even in ideal conditions! Any
  3. Good work. Love the improvised livewell . i just use a mesh bag with a drawstring & toggle, tied to the wading tub but i bleed the ST & tommies straight away & chuck 'em in. Might be why the banjos, PJs & rays like me so much? Yep but Ive only seen lil ones chased to the surface and have never targeted them. Have caught them on the flats with yfw rigs & bloodworms but that was Franklin Harbour, near Cowell! Yeah seen them do exactly the same .
  4. More East than North East ......Gotcha are still around, moved from Stepney to St Morris a while back. Still on Magill Rd, still good friendly service.
  5. Big El Nino in the making, so a different sea current regime?
  6. Alas it is pretty unfortunate that we require regulation enforcement officers to manage adherence to regulations that exist to (hopefully) to ensure sustainability of future fish stocks for all of us. From my limited understanding they are very much under resourced-budget, funding, man power etc. Over my fishing 'career'.....I have seen fisheries only twice, once last season and recently on my last wading session (last WE): 'Fish Watch' in the car park when we arrived, essentially providing an 'education' service, handing out regs brochures and crab measures, further explaining how
  7. Great report mate, been waiting for it ! Major jellies tho. Haven't had a KI trip for years . Those trevs certainly pull hard, mini versions of their Northern cousins.
  8. For water temps i use this one: http://oceancurrent.imos.org.au/Adelaide/
  9. How my times have you taken a bag of cockles out for a session to then re-freeze most? Get them out for another trip and then repeat the process, only to find they have become the consistency of snot and fall of the hook? Sure you could use them for burley or even chuck 'em in the bin. However with a bit of time and a bag of salt you can salt your own to further use as bait. Why would you? They are much tougher holding on the hook more effectively, don't slime your fingers up and will last several re-freezes well. Plus you save a bit of money (cockles aren't cheap these days) and less
  10. Usually pretty standard 30lb single paternoster with 2 snooded 4/0s and a whole pillie or a double with surf popper on top. Not a very energetic beach, so 4oz stars should likely sufficient, with a swivel-snap to reduce line twist & sinker changes. Fish as below good fun on lure. Jealous, wish i was there.
  11. Hell yeah As Plankton says. Over to the 2nd beach and fish the nice gutters. Dawn & dusk. Recon it'd go well for some surf toothies too.
  12. Another month and i recon ill just about game the wetsuit. Waders suck-diddily-uck! Ive done many summer sessions in nylon pants (UV protection) but prefer an longjohn (open shoulder) wetsuit any day.
  13. Cool! Been waiting for your report. A new PB Pt Jacko for me, must have been 1m+ . Does it count as 'hand caught' and not rod&line? A few little ones succumbed to the popper but all 40+cm STs on my last lot of 110mm Flickbaits and 1/4oz jig heads. Going to use 3.75&5in Zmans next time. Gulps are to soft and get smashed here.
  14. Had the link bookmarked but the page seems to have disappeared and i get the "page not found" error . Just had a quick squiz. Maybe this one? http://www.sawater.com.au/community-and-environment/the-river-murray/river-reports/daily-flow-report
  15. Ooo they are available now then? Did look the goods in the promo shots but never actually seen them. The Isomes are certainly pretty good. Whereabouts can you get them?
  16. Seen them and they certainly look pretty. Never used any. Actually many of those Savage Gear lures look pretty . The unique difference with the CCs is the claw action & trebles in the claws, as opposed to a SP style option.
  17. About 3 years ago now. Desperate for a fish and headed out solo to the end of the Outer Harbour Breakwater for a lure session. Fell over badly on that slimy green crud, literary right at the end and landing on my hand and hip. Busted the reel (Sedona FD) and and bruised my hip bone. fun walking back to the car! Didn't get a single touch for my efforts but managed a pretty sore hip joint for about 3 months
  18. Saturday's looking ok and should manage a session....hang on that's August My only salmon session in July was too piss poor to write about. Go Doobie
  19. Would be nice at the local, considering we cant catch them at The Pages anymore either .
  20. Only done a few sessions. Another wade saturday gone and the STs were thick but only averaging 25-30cm when i wanted the bigger ones. Could only weed out 1 larger at 41cm even after upgrading to 5in Jerkshads which they just destoyed too quickly. Might head to Deep Creek friday. Couldnt find any bloodworms LB Sun and thankfully Piratepom gave us a live report and suggested it wasnt worth going last night!
  21. Would generally steer away from the Anaconda stuff. That said i purchased a pair of their neoprene's, 40% off a while back and have just done my 3rd extended wading session and they've been dry and warm. My first waders were a cheapish nylon brad and lasted many years untill the numerous pin-prick sized leaks became too much. I also found them wet due to perspiration and difficult to layer underneath as the hydrostatic pressure essentilly squeezed all the insulating air out of whatever i wore underneath and i got cold regardless. Neoprene's offer their own insulation from the cold
  22. Off on a bit of a tangent. Caught most of my salmon over the last couple of years on a 1-3 kg Fireblade, Symetre 1000 & 6lb Sunline. Something magic about fishing the surf. Finger's crossed I can get to KI this season and can workout a setup i havnt managed to use yet: 9' Allure, Symetre 4000, 15lb Powerpro. I dont manage enough surf lure casting to imagine a deam setup but recon the Seajigger would be there. Might add that Fireblade & Allure came from our "Buy, sell, Swap or Trade" section too .
  23. But your photos have been crap for ages ! Not my specialty but something like the Panasonic Lumix comes to mind......shockproof & waterproof (to an extent) & decent burst mode.....even get Wi-Fi these days. Camera House, Teds, Diamonds even Harldy Normal are all pretty competative unless your after a cheap 'grey import'. Oops off topic
