HB tragic

You won’t be using it at the local HB in the Onk or the beach I’m guessing . Can’t wait to see the results . I’m happy with a light rod feels perfect with a smaller reel 

Sold some gear so am treating myself to an import from Tasmania. Its a Messiah Custom made by Scott James. Have seen a few videos / reviews of the rods so thought I would give one a try. Thought of going local but before I knew it had ordered one. Am very excited about it coming but still have a few weeks to wait. As an aside Scott sends photos of the build so that the purchaser can be part of the that process. Regards, Dean (HBt.)

^^^ Interesting. Had a Nitro Vapor 7' 1-3 kg but ended up selling it as it did not feel right in my hand for the hb fishing I enjoy. Am now waiting for an 8'6" 2-4kg to arrive. Keen to see how the extra length works in terms of casting and applying pressure when angling a fish. Regards, HBt.

Essentially a Diawa version of the OSP Dunks.

Anywhere from $20-$25 is what they seem to cost but you need to look around. Good colour. Certainly caught some nice bream on it in the Onk and bream in the Pat on that colour but in the double clutch. Look forward to see what you think. Regards, HBt.

My Samaki Archer... 2-6lb 6'9" long casts a 4g lure about 40-60 metres using 6lb braid.. my other Samaki Archer 4-8lb 6'11" doesnt do as well.. But the heavier one is way better to get "walking the dog" action better..... I prefer the lighter rod... Suits my fishing style... I use it for hours at a time and its soo light/balanced.. doesnt fatigue me at all..
I use a cheap Shimano $30 1000 reel.... Its held up well, but have to keep up the maintenance with it, especially the bail arm/roller.. gets tight...... It was best/cheapest way for me to get extra spools. I bought 3 when on special for $30. I have plenty of spares as well.. LOL.. and they balance well with the Archer.. Ive got a decent/expensive 2500 reel, but it feels too heavy/awkward for the light rods.. 
Ive always thought "would an expensive reel do better? One day Ill find out.. But spare spools are as much as the reels themselves.... I like to have 3 spare spools ready to go... Its just me...

Let me get used to it one of those reels needs new line . But I was thinking the same thing myself . Hopefully this rod will flick some smaller lures better than the 2-4 kilo and longer than the aird did . I think I have a some lures a great fisherman 😉 gave me time will tell

Ok a little update . The 2-4 kilo rod I bought like a broomstick was returned to where I bought it . Replaced it with a Diawa Hyper 1-3 kilo 7 ft 2 piece hopefully I’ll have a flick this week .

Definetly the cooler months walking some of the beach/flats areas of West Lakes to get out a bit deeper and the banks of the Onk particularly when the water level is lower. Thats the plan I have in my head at this stage. Regards HBt.

Can't remember what i used to wear it's been years since i surf fished but i do remember one trip not taking any socks..... It wasn't a good time.  
I never forgot my socks after that trip, blisters for dayz! 

I use flannelette jarmy bottoms., thick wool socks. I get some strange looks when dressing for a wade...
