i generally prefer shimano but think its hard to go past a  daiwa bg. 5000 would be more than enough. put that on a 8-12kg rod or similar rod and you will have a great little combo. no need to go to over the top with sizes

I am a supporter of the idea but I just feel that atm everyone is getting ahead of themselves. the details are vague and no time frame has been put in place. I just feel as though all of this carry on is getting peoples hopes up. we need to take a step back and wait for something to happen before jumping the gun. 
We need to understand that this is a new gov and they have almost no experience in governing. Things will more than likely take longer than anticipated to happen because of this. I also feel that there are more urgent matters for this gov to deal with than this issue.

I hope the come through with all they have promised for the fishing sector but atm its just words
 
 

Do you understand that a pre-election policy means nothing? This is just what they plan to do not what they have done. They still need to implement this and im not saying they wont but it wouldnt be the first government to back-flip on a pre-election promise. How about waiting to see what they actually do before getting too carried away.

Only 3 members of the new government have been sworn in. The remainder get sworn in on Thursday. Pretty sure this wont be the #1 thing they do when they do.

Unusual, but looks like a cousin to a stone fish.

Nice one! I reckon there would be heaps of them out there. Now that I've seen what they are, I'm guessing they are just a heating element with a fan that blows the hot air around the vented trays. There are some deluxe models out there, I think they are maybe constructed of a longer lasting metal case with stainless wire trays. They seems to be the Rolls Royce models.

Cheers stormboy, Pretty much the recipe I've been going by, also found out about top side being a nice cut. I bought some from the Central Markets in town for the last batch and it was perfect, good price too.
 
I found the secret to slicing it thin was to chuck it in the freezer for a short time just until it froze enough to toughen it up. This made life so much easier.
 
I've also heard when marinading that if you vacuum seal a bag or take as much of the air out of the marinade container or bag it will marinade a lot quicker. I've done that but still left it for 24 hours, damn tasty stuff!

I use half soy sauce and half Worcestershire sauce then add a heap of chilli, garlic and any other herbs and spices feel like at the time. Let if sit in the fridge for 24hrs or so (not too long though). It generally takes 4-6hrs to dehydrate depending on the thickness of the meat. Make sure you use meat with as little fat as possible, i tend to use a top side roast but have also used roo and venison.

FG knot for braid to leader. A lot thinner and stronger than the double uni. Just as quick to tie especially if you do the simplified version.

Fin Nor lethal 100 would be one of my top choices in reels. not too sure of the rods as that is a bit of a personal feel thing for me, just go to the local tackle shop and compare a few in your range

They are actually pretty good! I would be more than happy to take more home if I ever got the chance again!
