I dig my own bloodworms and dip them live in metho which makes them seize up and toughen up then freeze them.

Can see the method working on nippers and beach worms also.

Bream don't seem fussed about metho if you fish a whole bloodworm preserved in metho but they get picky if you cut the worms up coz they don't look natural.

Also heard stories about the folks who sprayed their lures in WD-40 and caught good fish off the jetties.

If you can source some nippers with your bait pump I would say put them live in metho before you freeze them so they don't soften up.

Lazy bait sesh tomorrow up the Warren and with water levels high will be up in the timber. But with clear water deep diving lures will work well.

Hoping to get another Cod and next time I get one it will be going on the brag mat coz it sucks having to take photos of them in the water when fishing solo.

But this one time a school of silver perch swam through at Nappers Bridge. Caught ten all the same size as this.

Got a shack at Barmera so the river around Cobdogla, Kingston and Overland Corner are my favourite spots to get out in the boat.

Take the swag to other places downstream and in the last 12 months have camped at Waikerie, Morgan, Walker Flat and Mannum.

Morgan has been the most productive recently and Cadell is also good landbased coz it is a narrow stretch of river but having said that I caught my PB 52cm callop at Walker Flat and then dropped my phone in the water and lost the photo.

Nappers Bridge on Lake Bonney is my favourite carp fishing spot in all SA. Every fish swimming into or out of the lake is concentrated in a narrow section under the bridge.

Target mostly natives in the river and carp in Lake Bonney and backwaters.

I remember a time up the Warren Reservoir very early morning when there were tiny icicles hanging off the braid.

Also remember a time up on the houseboat my folks used to own when the shrimp pot ropes stuck to the rails on the side.

And the first Cod I ever caught was at Blanchetown many years ago at 2am in the morning and freezing cold and all my mates were asleep in their tents and swags.

Some of my best fishing memories are during cold weather but I must admit I am definitely a summer person.

    Sounds like a ray
I've caught a few eagle rays in the coorong, although on pilchards not livebait

Had a brief encounter with a fish on a live salmon troutie, fishing the coorong.  At first i thought it was a Mullie ,but it was just steady weight ,when it swam off slowly. Then it accelarated with a nice run , then spat the hook. At no stage was there any headshakes, on examining the bait i could not see any teeth marks. So im stumped at what it might of been, any ideas fellow Strike Hookers?

I use bait elastic with pilchard and garfish baits when casting from shore. Haven't tried it with yabbies, but alot of people overseas use it for soft baits like clams, prawn and squid so it should work fine.

First bream reel purchased over 10 years ago was a 2500 Symetre. I have since moved on but its still working well for the grandchildren catching squid. Great little reel. Regards, HBt.

My fishing depends on my free time from work lately.

Both days on the weekend then one or two days during the week if I finish early.

Mostly freshwater and if it isn't a lazy sit down bait sesh I will be throwing lures about.

Usually the Warren Reservoir or Murray on weekends and then fishing local metro muddy puddles during the week.

And I find you don't need to find the salmon school with vibrating blades coz the school tunes in to the noise and they all move toward it.

And I find swapping the trebles to high end single hooks reduces the cabbage caught up and makes a better hook up.

Just checked and my Symetre is a 1500.

Bought it years ago and looks a bit worn on the outside but all internal components still work smooth as silk.

Another good low priced Shimano reel is the Sedona.

Got a few Sedonas from 1000s to 4000s on my heavier rods for freshwater natives and I think they are the ducks nuts.

And you can't beat the 10 year warranty on all Shimano reels from the Siennas up.
