  1. When I first started Snapper fishing I decided to purchase the 4500B Baitrunner and it was a great real. I began fishing in free spool to utilise the bait runner feature but shortly into the run of the Snapper taking the bait I would go to set the hooks and find I had missed a lot of the strikes. It took a year or two before someone told me to use Circle Hooks and to ditch the fishing in bait runner/free spool mode.I did that and my Snapper fishing turned around dramatically. It was like a breath of fresh air. I was fishing in fighting drag and using 6/0 circles and was hardly missing a fish. T
  2. I hooked my first Mully on plastics on the weekend. would of been around 50cm down the coorong with Jimbo. LOST it about 10-12m out from the net.STILL AN EXCELLENT trip out with Jimbo landing a 47cm Mully on zman
  3. Yeah those two guys are fantastic and its one of my favourite shows on Foxtel!Congrats you guys! FILMING tv shows Im sure would be a heap of fun and a massive challenge!
  4. Surely my Mack thread must be right up there..LOLLOLOLOLOLOLit gave away the best tip of all. Let the bait sink to 12-15 feet and use two splitties. Have to agree that Kelvin and 4Tha have been setting the bar fairly high
  5. Mate That looks sensational. It looks like you have designed it to sit up nice and high so you dont have to reach to far for your rods when standing up, which I think is better than having to reach down to pick up a rod.Nice work mate. I think they are going to do the job nicely!
  6. I would go a Stella 4000SW on a Ian Miller Beast Buster. you could throw plastics at fish as small as flatties, you could catch jacks, threadfin, some medium sized Mackeral and also be in with a chance of landing Black Jew, big Barra, Snapper, big Nannies etc. Only thing you would struggle to do is jig medium to heavy jigs and for that you would need the Ian Miller Toad but you couldnt then do your plastics fishing with it
  7. Well lets just say I think the mark is worth having on my list and worth doing the conversion for. If your keen on your snapper, this would be worth a look at night/early morning for sure. :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:
  8. Can you do the same thing for WGS66 MARKS?I need to convert this mark in WGS66 TO WGS8434"58.849 138"28.078 WGS66 Anyone know how to do this or could convert this for me?Cheers.
  9. I'll PM you the marks but you need a decent boat and plenty of fuel - the spot is about 250km south of Whyalla ramp :silly: I wouldn't have thought you'd get Dolphin Fish at PA either though...like TackleBags said' date=' "anything is possible".[/quote']Matty Holmes and Daniel Priscan have just got back from a Tuna trip. I wonder if they dumped there carcases there for convenience?
  10. Theres no point handing a specialised bait to the average mum and dad fisho on a jetty. For a start they need to be fished on long shank hooks and be fished in the shallows where there are often small gutters that hold yellowfin whiting, bream and mullet. If you give these to the average fisho, you will not get an accurate picture of how the worms compare to freshly caught worms in which experienced anglers dig up themselves, because these average fisho's would probably of not of even used worms as bait before, are fishing in the wrong locations and using incorrect gear.I agree that you need t
  11. The only two ingrediants I would be looking to add to that is some Blue swimmer crab and some prawn shells. probably best if uncooked, but I have used cooked with success. And just my opinion, but I would be leaving as much moisture in your mix as you can as it should take longer to thaw out.
  12. He probably got the location off of Tykes Great white at Stanvac post. probably decoded the gps location off of his photo's :PThe guy is at Stanvac rocks for sure!
  13. Nah I dont think its for me, as you cant legally long line as a rec here in SA. not really worth all the hassle to take a line out with two hooks and bait on it
  14. Twitch wrote "I don't know I am just a bit funny about it, I would much rather use my DSLR and video for someone else or if really need be for toughness and underwater capabilites use a housing for my Digital Cameras.Hope this makes more sense. Still if someone offered a Go Pro I wouldn't turn it up! Just not my first option" I am of the same opinion Twitch, but the problem comes when you find yourself out on a boat doing all the filming of other peoples fish on handycam or DSLR and you cant pick up a rod yourself. Sure everything will be perfectly be in frame etc, but you soon realise its har
  15. Super nice comp, and a super sweet prize!  :cheer: :cheer:I better get fishing!
  16. LOL oh come on Ben, I would have to have witnessed that with my own eyes for that to have happened! Oh shit thats right I did     That metro Mako capture is still blowing my mind right now. Imagine the guy that caught and released it, no-one would be believing him to this day. And yes I know I spoilt it. everyone was meant to go "oh as if!!"And you are so right, the more you fish, the more weird and unusual and also trophy size fish you come across. Like a 60-65lb mully on a snapper drop, snapper in West Lakes, Kingfish off of Marino are just some of the weird stuf
  17. I have been on a lot of charters in my time and by far I recommend a drive up to Port Broughton and fish with Trevor on double header, if you are an amature who really doesnt have that much skill, he can find plenty of good Snapper. Yes he does use extremely heavy gear, but for a beginner or inexperienced snapper angler, it is a great experience. Its a day you wont forgett. I think going with a bunch of blokes, staying overnight in the pub and then getting up early for a big day of chasing snapper in Spencer gulf is way cool.I am so glad I did those trips with Trevor as I learnt plenty and ca
  18. Mate I think me and LF are just about drooling about now.Hope to get out there soon with you guys soon.AMAZING FOOTAGE. SOME OF THE BEST trailer boat footage I have ever seen. The footage is so clear and captures the pandamonium so well. What a crazy day. And I must say your boating skills are looking pretty decent to say the least. And did I love the Stella Hook up and footage I hear you ask. Oh man. did I what
  19. Yes, come to think of it 2.38M does sound a "TAD" EXPENSIVE for this program! For that sort of money they should be able to put a block every 1km along the entire WA COAST! lolOh man thats some expensive concrete!
  20. The program seems to be fundamentally floored as the cubes have holes in them. Meaning the fish can just swim straight through them. LOL But seriously were do we start as PIRSA are of the opinion that artificial reefs are of no benefit to our Snappers Biomass. Ie they believe the total number of snapper would not increase as a result. My opinion is the more structure, the more food and the more fish the gulf can support at any given time.Im interested to get this discussion going again though.
  21. Hi Shimsman, all I can say is buyer beware on the cheap Chinese made Saltiga rip offs. The old saying you get what you pay for comes to mind.Id be steering clear of that junk. Also with cheap braid it often fades or gets weak really fast after exposure to salt water, so again I would be investing in brands that are established and have something to loose if it turns out to be crap. I guess what Im saying is there are hundreds of brands of cheap braid in which you could buy on ebay or get from DF but for me, I choose to invest a few more bucks in something that wont let me down.I also want to
