  1. hahaha, that came out wicked 4Tha! Thanks for the company mate always a blast fishing with you.
  2. II take a length of line, approx 1.5m maybe longer. One end i tie on the swivel then feed the line through the first hole till it snugs up against the pencil float then wrapping it around once and back through then down to the other hole feed through, wrap once around and back through again then tie on my hook. Mostly use a single hook rig to avoid tangles.I,ve gotta knock a rig up myself so 'ill take a pic if you need.
  3. That's why i will no longer buy fishing mags. Too much advertorial content and stories or articles with product placement. If i want all that i'll just pick up the free mag that has all the new fishing gear in it you find around the traps at tackle stores etc.
  4. Which ever way you go Waspy get it spooled by a tackle store. http://www.strikehook.com/forum/35-bait-tackle/255471-spooling-with-power-pro
  5. Gotcha Shimsman and i actually like that idea. Only peril would be getting bitten off on the droppers means the entire rig is gone.My preference for quick replacement droppers for those pesky puffers and LJ is a loop knot on the trace and on the droppers.
  6. Good work. Thanks for taking the time.I would only add that using fluoro is a luxury option especially if you're going to be cutting off one half of the loop to make your dropper. Good old clear mono will be fine especially for novices.
  7. That's what we use to boil the sauce bottles Chief.

  9. PMed ya 4tha. Do you want electric or gas? I picked up a large crab pot on sale at Rays a few months back and since i steam 'em i get away with the ol' butane gas burner. To easy.
  10. Nothing will happen. Yeah, they'll cop a fine but still keep their licence and it'll be business as usual.http://www.strikehook.com/forum/74-pirsa-fisheries/249368-media-release-commercial-fisher-convicted-for-exceeding-shark-limits
  11. Chiefs thread got me thinking after considering all the replies that there was no real consesus as to why or even if split grips are actually better. Ask 10 fishos get 10 different opinions.I'm not fussed either way cause i only have one decent graphite rod and it has split grips and one graphite composite that is nearly 20 years old. Maybe it's just an aesthetics thing, i mean tackle companies have to sell gear so they bring out something new or looks different and tackle rats will buy it. New doesn't always mean better. How much more can fishing rods evolve.? Some new future yet unknown mater
  12. What about split grips versus full length cork grips? I always thought that cork was the shizzle 'cause of the sensitivity? Would split grips made out of cork be the pinnacle?
  13. I guess they are great for what they are meant for, flicking lures and SPs all day. I've had a few over the years and i'm just to rough and clumsy with them on the boat. I've kept one SP outfit but on the boat i'll stick with glass/composite rods.I have a Silstar Chrystal tip that's a good compromise for me.
  14. They would be fine. Two things, traditionally Ugly stiks have a slower taper, more so on the older Ugly Stiks from the early 90s. Secondly, being a newb as you say i reckon give the graphite rods a wide birth for a little while. JMHO.
  15. Look for an Ugly Stik around 8ft 2-4kg ball park. Otherwise go visit a few tackle stores and seek advice.
  16. Stradic FJ would have to be the best bang for bucks i reckon.
  17. I bought a little Shimano ix2000 at Rays a li'l while ago when they had a sale on for like $16 and paired with an el cheapo rod for a squid outfit. Came spooled too. This thing has copped a flogging and still going strong with zero maintenance 'cept for a rinse off.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HqNaSiIgdv4
  18. I can comfortably say it was no Pt Jacko, but yes it could have been a ray. I have caught a gummy in the vicinity before.
  19. There's this mob too Waspy, SA based. Have the same reels as the Komodos but cheaper...Go figure. Our sponsor would match i'd think.http://www.talkintackle.com.au/fishing-reels
