  1. If you're going to fish Barker inlet I'd be launching at Garden island boat ramp. I wouldn't leave my car there after dark but during the day it should be safe. I normally launch a couple of hours after low so the flats are beginning to flood, with that the salmon trout normally follow. Look for areas with fast flowing water which will attract and hold STs. i.e creek bends, Rockwell bends etc.
  2. I've seen mullet do this. Are they Definitely Salmon?
  3. Rest in peace Robert. I'm sure you're wetting a line in Gods best fishing spot. I'll always remember you as a mentor in fishing always willing to help with valuable advice and great service.
  4. I have spoken to the owner of the tackle shop and he is all to happy to try and help. I've been in and checked his other sensor rods and they have the same problem. I agree Fuji are normally a great product but with all the cost cutting going on in business these days would it be so surprising that the quality is slipping or the rod builder has chosen the cheapest reel seat to fit to the blank? Ill probably return the sensor for the Penn prevail. It's a shame because I've been a daiwa purchaser for years. Thanks for your input ausea and plankton.
  5. I recently bought a Daiwa sensor 13 ft surf rod and a daiwa windcast 6000 reel in preparation for an upcoming fishing trip. I've done my homework and read reviews regarding the rod and haven't discovered any negative feed back on these rods. I've placed the reel onto the reel seat and tightened the reel into place only to find that the reel moves from side to side, so I do up the clamp a little more, without any difference to the play. When I say movement it's not huge but I have no other rods that allow any movement from side to side. I thought it may be the reel foot to start with so I trie
  6. Best times to fish for snook from jetties is the first and last light of the day.During the night under jetty lights is also rewarding.I like to fish using bait at night( frogmouth pichards or whitebait ) and hardbody lures or soft plastics for sight fishing during early/last light.Jetty Snook seem to be smarter than boat caught Snook, probably because they have had every bait and lure waved in front of there nose. The retrieve speed of a lure will depend on the mood of the snook.Fast is good at times especially when snook are in numbers and are competing for food. They don't have time to really
  7. i thought the size limit was 32cm?...return it
  8. It should mix nicely with the raw sewerage the council still pumps into the Port river. The government craps on about green green green but if it's hidden in the water it's alright.
  9. skudded while you were diving at Edithburg did you see any fish? Are they there and not biting or absent?
  10. 4 days at Coobowie fishing the local jetties have resulted in zero. The boaties have been getting very little also from what I've been told.
  11. I arrived at woolbay jetty this morning at 5AM to 3 seals swimming around in the shallows.I stayed for an hour and half until the rain drove me from the jetty.NO squid.I went to Edithburg for about 30 minutes for the same result.I don,t know why it is so quiet on this side of the peninsula at the moment.Maybe over fed on week 1 of school holidays.
  12. fishing is very slow at edithburg at the minute.Ive been here for a day and haven,t caught a thing.Hopefully wool bay jetty will reward me tomorrow morning with some squid.
  13. I'll sit quietly and listen for boofing on the surface from mullies and throw gold coloured hard bodies at them.I won't waste my time if I can't hear them feeding on the surface.
  14. I agree with snake. If you want to catch the biggest tommies in SA go to fowlers bay Jetty at night.Fish it during the day it is disappointing but when it goes dark I've never fished a better jetty in my life and Ive spent 1000s of hours on jetties.
  15. I was brave enough or stupid enough to go out in the boat yesterday. The day started out great I got 5 snook some tommies and then felt the barometer drop so headed back towards stkilda.I thought I have a quick look up swan alley when the storm hit.We sat there for 20 minutes and got soaked but when the lightning started to flash around us we thought we had better leave. We got back Angas Inlet boat club where the second front hit.I couldnt believe the amount of water in the boat once I pulled the bungs out.But I still rather be out on the water in the bad weather than at work.
  16. Can I suggest a new line for Tackleworld? Rubbers to cover your rod for when the mood arises.
  17. they look like the crabs I caught from Hindley Street
  18. Tyke Are you going to put trebles back on? I've recently changed over to owner singles which seem to hold onto the fish better and do alot less damage to the mouth if using for livebait .There are more benefits to singles its quicker to get the fish off the hook once captured ,less bleeding and you haven't got six pointy ends to stick you in the process of unhooking.I,m very impressed with singles and have changed over my lead slugs for salmon also.I tried them recently at browns and had better hookups with less lost to the leaping, also less area for snagging up on the reef or floating weed.
  19. I fishing on the old gal Falie I hooked onto a samson that I thought must of been 100lbs .The fight was taking for ever when finally a pair of samson appear on the surface. The decky screams "you've got a double header".I think to myself i couldn't I've only one set of hooks on.It turns out I've been fighting 2 samson and the guy on the other side of the ship for the last half an hour.He was oblivious to this as he had drank most of the beer from the keg that day and had been fatigued from the fight. It was only when I yelled out to him that he was over to claim his fish and tell me he had given
  20. I caught a snapper in 2004 in Clare Bay which was originally caught and tagged in Fowlers Bay in 2002.The snapper had grown 170 mm and wasn't too far from the original capture point.Fishing in the port two weeks ago and my mate catches a mulloway with a tag in it and then the very next fish also has a tag in it. I'm still waiting to hear the results / history of this capture.

    wind knots

Even though fire line looks ugly and tatty I've never had a wind knot using this line.I recently changed over to Nitlon and have had countless wind knots.I know what line I'll be putting back on when its time to respool.I also believe the smaller the reel the more wind knots.
  22. I love freezing me B###s off in the Port River in the middle of winter on the hunt for mulloway. The scorching run ,the hook up, the bust offs, the ultimate capture keeps you returning regardless of the weather. A winters day with Sth/wst blowing in your face at Browns beach on a weekday with no one else on the beach so you can walk up and down casting lures at visible salmon schools. At home in front of a fire with a hot cup of coffee reading strike stories of recent captures.( when I haven't got a get out jail free card)
  23. Port river hardbody school mulloway caught recently.
