Roundie 0
Hey,What are peoples thoughts or experience with using the berkley fireline fused original compared against monofiliment and braid options. The website is pretty vague, stuff looks nice though
samboman 319
I use the fireline Crystal, never had a problem.... gets fluffy after a while but at $20 a spool is cheap to replace....i use 4 and 6lb on all my reels....Sambo
rooboy123 9
I've used the crystal as well and thought it was good value. Remember that fireline breaks well above its stated poundage, but is also a bit thicker than some other braids in the same line class. Cheers
Wahoo 146
Been using Fireline in various colours and breaking strains for years. I find the fused gelspun is a bit stiffer & easier to tie knots in than some of the more limp braids. I also find it fairly easy to unpick when the knots appear!!Grey 6lb fireline and size 4 circles are killer on KGW!Wahoo
southie THE BANGA 2,304
i love fireline... only stuff i have on my reels..
Ugly4Life 41
I find I get too many wind knots with Fireline original. Never used Crystal. Mostly stick with Stren Microfuse as I have never had trouble with it.
urhookedfish 12
I love fireline Original. I have it on my light combo and use it for everything from squidding off jetties to trout fishing in streams.I have loved the 6lb in fluro yellow/green
Piranha 76
Fireline is great to use for a first time braid/gelspun user, any other brand line you use afterwards will be a big step up. start with the worst and all the rest will be a dream to use

In my opinion it just isnt worth spending any more money on light braid. And with lighter braids you really dont want it too fine or it gets too hard to tie knots when you are freezing cold chasing trout on days that are colder and wetter than todaySo ive tried most of the big name and quite a few of the big dollar braids but for light line fishing I always find myself heading to the shops for Fireline. afishyfish

Piranha 76
I might have been a bit harsh It's all about using something you have confidence in that suits your budget ect. Personally I think fireline is every bit as strong as others on the market, just find it thick, a bit too waxy and holds way too much memory for my liking but thats just me (hack fisherman) Think it's one of the worlds top selling lines so i'm in the minority afishyfish

samrota 1
I've always used the original Fireline on all my light lure flicking setups. I tried Crystal fused recently, and had nothing but problems with it wrapping around the guides and tip, pretty much every third cast. Almost stripped it off one morning, got so annoyed with it. It's supposed to get better the more you use it. I stuck with it and have not had too many problems with the line wrapping the guides.Average line compared to the original. IMHO. Cheap enough thoughCheers.Sam urhookedfish
Barbz 0
the stuff isnt to bsd.. bit stiff when u first use it but after a while it loosens up.. for the price u cant go wrong.. i have a few reels with it spooled on em.. the more u use it the more it fluffs up and need to change it quicker but 20 a spool it cheep to do. Cal 480
The secret with it when it fluffs up is turn it around and wind it on to another reel then back on again, then you are using a fresh end again, get double the life out of one spool.
