  1. Yes Ntoney as spotter says they have and I"ve seen the price its VERY VERY good for a top quality rod such as that.
  2. Oh also Nt , not plugging the business in any way but I saw mo tackle have a clearence special on the supergraph heavy surf, which is graphite composite version of the excact same rod,its lighter and a bit stiffer.http://www.motackle.com.au/supergraph-surf-3103950.html
  3. G"day Nt the Gary howard 8144 is excactly that ,the blank is a pacific /exel composites mt 8144...8 wraps 144 inches long. The same rod as a Wlison/Snyder 8144[they are also Pacific/exel] but instead custom built by Gary to his specifications.Great rod.
  4. Oh yeah, used to see and hear plenty of that wanky stuff on that afc thingy they use to show.Seeing those guys dressed up in american style outfits using terms like "to the fork'..'.slow rolled" "couple of quick hops' ect, then high five each other when some poor suburban waterway bream, that had been spending most of its life picking barnacles off some old boat hull or concrete wall, hit the deck of their 60 grand outfit ,hanging off the end of their 1500 dollar combo...yeah that would of been the height of wankness :woohoo:
  5. G"day ntoney, this link may help, from what you say theres a chance it may be a eg 220.http://www.therodworks.com.au/12-E-Glass.html
  6. G"day Ntoney, it could be a 196/8 ? Awesome rod if it is
  7. Great comment Ale...the media putting out reports of a species coming inshore trying to grub up a feed ,in the nice warm summer gulf conditions,is as pathetic a thing as one can imagine. They should be publicly forced to make an apology on how bad doing that actually is..
  8. Great report and pics bream reaper,I really enjoy your reports , its the sort of fishing i love as well. Its the whole experience of getting in to beautiful spots, enjoying the surroundings, the fish are in tune with their environment and the challenge they present to us anglers is as rewarding as actually landing them.Cheers
  9. G"day Adam, yes the one in the pic WAS mine but I sold it ages ago, I regret it now big time, the guy i sold it to still has it and hasnt used it yet as far as i know, and said he will sell it back to me for the price he got it for off me.Cash a bit tight at the moment with crissy and all,but as soon as things get back to normal I"m thinking about trying to get it back.I have a 540 sabre as well and also a sensor surf + snyder 8144,8120,8132, su 7153...so come to think of it the collection is ridiculous and i cant really justify buying it back.
  10. Just a tip kgbeats, the northern end of gleesons is a tricky spot to find if you dont know your way around there, its not a matter of just rocking up,you have to access it via a track on your right ,before you get to gleesons landing itself, then there are several tracks to your left leading in through the dunes and only one of them is the right one,and then you need a 4x4 to get in,or a long long walk. There is another way in to even better beach,at the extreme northern end,and thats also a 4x4 track that leads in from swincers rocks.Same deal with that as well. Not trying to put you off at all j
  11. G"day Dylbaa, have a look here browse through the site ,cheershttp://www.therodworks.com.au/
  12. G"day Dylbaa, the hammer rods were bought out exclusively by the Sport fishing scenes resident rod builders ,the blank material was a special mix of reinforced graphite /carbon that blended in to a fibreglass top section, similar to the Sabre GFs.Awesome rods, light and powerful, also be pretty rare.In fact would go as far as saying they are up there with the GFs,not quite as tough as the 540s but not bad.Very good casting rods, awesome actually.
  13. Great report Alex, always refreshing to see a young lad getting right into his fishing and thouroughly enjoying it.
  14. Fair enough Tony, I see your point.
  15. Best off not making any noise about it, we can happily fish the dam,if we arc up too much some council banana may try and justify his/her job and get no fishing signs put up.We are best off doing our thing under the radar.
  16. Rods snapping is a bad thing, the problem lies in the new wave materials and high grade carbon imo,the rod itself may be good in theory and a superb tool, but all it takes is a bang in transit,or a scrape along the side of the boat. The thinness /lightness of the blank ,combined with a very highly strung material can form a tiny weak spot, not visible to the naked eye, that under the right kind of pressure will let go,even sometimes the blank will explode.I know this because i do a bit of coarse fishing with carbon fibre poles, these can be up to 16 metres long,i have one 10.5 metres that t
  17. Dont know if it counts, but years ago at rapid bay catching Tommies and chow ,on one of those sabiki rig things i caught a big gar.the rig was similar to this
  18. Yeah mate nice rod, they have been discontinued so may be the reason you cant find anything on it,and make grabbing it even more worthwhile.
  19. Next thing you know Armaguard will be delivering kg fillets to the fishmongers in those armoured trucks. Thats nothing,I worked at SAFCOL,where most of the abolone gets processed and canned, almost all of locally sourced abs go to the Asian markets. There was a tin the size of a bake bean can ,and I found out the 1 tin gets sold for 480 dollars Aus to the markets over there wholesale, thats 1 tin of brined oily salty crap basically and worth more than gold..Everyone got full scale bag searches ect when leaving after work....and heaps had been caught sucking in to temptation, they even stra

    Stren line

I"ve recently started using the new Stren Lazer braid,14 bucks for a 125yd spool. Its similar to fire line but its micro thin, smooth, limp, casts well, knots well, doesnt fluff up, am very impressed with it.
  21. Yeah mate funnily enough, got into some huge tommies once on the northern flats, as many as you wanted to catch, and they were stuffed to the gills with tiny green seahorses about the length of a 5 cent piece.Must of been some kind of hatch out or something .
  22. Great writeup Shimsman A question if i may,,, where did you get those daiichi hooks?Cheers
  23. One thing that has always surprised many is that there are heaps of baby ones, the conditions are seemingly perfect,ie weed beds, sand patches, shallow sandy straights dropping off into deep water. All that and throw in abundant baitfish, plus the flounder seem to do well, but its rare to ever hear of one getting caught, that one Alex caught is probably the first I"ve ever seen or heard of to be honest.Nice work .
  24. Not necessarily' date=' I"ve watched those shark docos and plenty get away, even humans have been mauled and survived ,even that guy the other week.I did some research and the great Whites hunting success ratio is approx 48%,which is actually very high amongst predators.Although when they get it right the results are devastating.Especially with humans as we arent perfectly adapted to the aquatic environment like seals.Who can ever forget Rodney foxes horrific but lucky encounter.
