Cal got a reaction from newtontoney in Kilwell blanks
G"day Nt...they are excactly the same, just made in different factory.Pacific /exel composites, wison, snyder, kilwell ect all use the same mandrel and make up a blank that is 7 wraps of fibreglass 144 inches long.A 7144 is a 7144,an analogy would be 5 different companies making vegemite using excact same ingredients but each one calling it a different name...but the stuff in the jars is identical.Cheers

Not a name of a piece of tackle but one that grieves me everytime I hear it.I 'slow rolled' my lure past the snag........translation....slowly wound it in. I reckon that's pretty wanky!

Great comment Ale...the media putting out reports of a species coming inshore trying to grub up a feed ,in the nice warm summer gulf conditions,is as pathetic a thing as one can imagine. They should be publicly forced to make an apology on how bad doing that actually is..

As you all know, my new target was snook... First day targeting them, I caught 2!!! We went at sunset and caught 2 squid straight away. After those 2 squid, the bite had gone down. But I started getting a few hits on the little sp so I persisted. I saw some snook rising from the deep and them BANG! I saw a snook hit the lure! I landed it just as it spat the lure on the jetty. Pew... that was lucky  MY FIRST EVER SNOOK!!! Later on after the sun had set, I had one massive hit on the sp lure and this was a BIG FISH! It didn't take up much of a fight considering I had locked drag. I managed to land it on the jetty. I was so excited! I measured it and it was 64cm on the dot! WOW! I WAS SHOCKED... :woohoo: First day targeting my new species and sucess! This big snook had a scar on it's tail which I think might be from another snook or a shark? We ended the day with a nice feed.

G"day Adam, yes the one in the pic WAS mine but I sold it ages ago, I regret it now big time, the guy i sold it to still has it and hasnt used it yet as far as i know, and said he will sell it back to me for the price he got it for off me.Cash a bit tight at the moment with crissy and all,but as soon as things get back to normal I"m thinking about trying to get it back.I have a 540 sabre as well and also a sensor surf + snyder 8144,8120,8132, su 7153...so come to think of it the collection is ridiculous and i cant really justify buying it back.

Great report and pics bream reaper,I really enjoy your reports , its the sort of fishing i love as well. Its the whole experience of getting in to beautiful spots, enjoying the surroundings, the fish are in tune with their environment and the challenge they present to us anglers is as rewarding as actually landing them.Cheers

After giving the local creek a 'rest' for a month or so I grabbed my little 2 weight six footer and headed down to see how things were looking. The water levels were much lower than last session with very little movement. The pools were crystal clear and it was great to see not only trout and Redfin but also yabbies and aquatic bugs doing their thing. With trout visible in all the pools it was not long before I was connected to a nice rainbow that I have seen and targeted for a while without luck. It grabbed a small unweighted nymph gently lifted to the surface in the still pool. Of course I had forgotten my net and fishing with only 2lb tippet things got a little bit tense.... Luckily I managed to gently lift the fish from the water by hand, and after a few quick pics it swam off to sulk for a while. The next pool had a giant brown that I see most times I fish, and true to form as soon as my line touched the water it shot off to hide. The rainbows kept rising and I managed to hook two again on a nymph suspended under a dry. Managed to get one of these to the reel as it screamed off down the pool with a few good leaps thrown in. My new reel was fantastic and really smooth, and after a few nice laps around the pool the fish was beached. A phone call call from the Mrs dragged me back up the hill leaving the trout still smashing the surface around me......

Cal reacted to Underpants in daly heads, gleesons landing Yorkes fishing tips?
Cal's on the money. The track 'to the right' has a gate off the Gleesons road and runs a km or so to the north, on the eastern side of the dunes before cutting thru to the beach. The track is actually do-able in 2wd untill if cuts thru the dunes where there is deep soft sand in areas. Would be a decent walk thru the dunes. Take a look via Google maps will give you an idea. Can drive to The Dust Hole carpark, just south off Daly Heads then a nice 'west coast' style set of steps down the the beach. Does give you an excellent view of prospective gutters. Seems some drive onto the beach through the dunes half way down or so but no idea where, may be locals and it's private property? Be some decent sand dune 4wd driving.

Claiming it as my best day fishing ever!Which is a BIG call for me.Heading down to locks well and a MASSIVE school of salmon sitting in a gutter about 40m out.Grabbed my favourite lure Duel Adagio and proceeded to cast for hours on end until my arms were sooooo sore!Normally these schools hold fish 1-3kg but ended up hooking a donkey of a fish!New PB salmon from the surf for me went 5.8kg.Few sharks hanging out the back and kept the school of fish right there. didn't really want to hook a 10ft bronzie but when you foul hook a salmon I suppose it's easy food for him.Thank goodness got my lure back!awesome fun! went back the next day with my whiting rod 6lb line but the school had moved to far out the back to cast

Sad loss, he was a lovely man and an ornament to fishing in SA. I spent many an hour chatting with Rob and always made it a point to stop in and say g'day and buy something whenever i was down that way.I know his daughter Amanda and the family are shattered as you'd imagine. RIP Rob.

Yeah i mainly chase Mullys but i catch everything on 6lb setup from Mully's to Cod Callop Catfish Silvers Carp Snapper Bream Redfin and this is all on the one out fit . I just use the different leader for different situations ? Hell i have used a 4lb set up with 20lb leader chasing Mully's before and biggest i landed was an 80cm . Just set your drag accordingly .
