  1. I just read this again.......when I said "fair",I meant "fairly big"........ I reckon I would've gone with your choice too.
  2. Yep,another $60 is a fair premium for sure..............
  3. I had a Silstar Crystal tip that was 6 foot 6 and rated 3 to 5 kg for years..........that was a great rod that was very light in the tip and good low down grunt..........I used it land based for bream and salmon trout mainly.........father-in-law uses it now for exactly what you want it for! I'd reckon you'd still get them,or similar.........cheap and cheerful too. Good luck with your search
  4. I like shopping at stores with three lettered names too............XXX............just kidding Good luck with your pursuit of the gear you're after
  5. So the fisho's that were crabbing today, come back next time for a few crabs, get busted and try and tell inspectors it was "ok last time".......well,they don't have a leg to stand on! I guess it's a case of the signage needed to be improved for the reserve, but then again the fisho's need to take it upon themselves to know the rules surely?.........ignorance is no excuse
  6. Not sure what happened then, but I got there in the end,and you got the idea of it all! Cheers
  7. G'day all. I know these rods have been around for years now,and I've always liked the feel of them, but never really had the need to "splurge" on one........I thought I'd finally get one and give it a go. Have seen them range in price from $140 or so,down to $100 when on special at the "larger franchise" stores. What stirred my interest, was when I saw them advertised for $80!..........awesome,or so I thought. I went for a look at them, and selected the "Bream Finesse".........7 foot 2 inch, rated at 1 to 3kg.......nice for fishing Yorkes flats for whiting I'd think. Approaching the counter,t
  8. And the winner is (drum roll)......................
  9. Seems like just about everyone loves a Yorkes road trip!
  10. Jan....... Yalata mullies Feb.......Yorkes flats for yellowfin whiting and / or sight fishing eagle rays March and April.........Yorkes mullet May,June and July..........Salt Creek sambos Aug,Sept and Oct........Yorkes.......whatever's around! Nov........bottom of Yorkes for bronzies Dec.......Yalata again No long week ends away for me either........too many rubber necks for my liking!
  11. Great pic! The look on her face seems to register the fish is there........however,I don't think her brain has processed the size or power that it possesses..........the next few frames would be great to see!.........provided all went well of course.
  12. That's true, but you don't have to pay the "mark up"
  13. I bought a tailor made fishing vest last time is was in Thailand, for $30 Australian. All the bells and whistles, more pockets and whatever you can poke a stick at.......it's made of a light weight sort of canvas that breathes really well, and is pretty cooling while walking the flats chasing whiting. The Thai tailor ( wow,try saying that 10 times really quickly lol ) made them for the bass fisho's on the US tournament scene, and when they were fully embroidered with sponsor logo's etc he was getting $200 US for them! Since my wife and eldest daughter had some business suits made by him,I tried
  14. Count the eyes and divide by two.........works for me lolState Government makes me sick.........
  15. I've had a Penn Powergraph 1000 for at least 25 years, and not missed a beat. Most probably can't get them anymore?..........scored mine from "good old Kmart" for the grand total of $24.99 Dare say there's a lot better around these days though........ This ones not mine,a pic off eBay.
  16. I use a pair of these forcep things that fly fisho's use. My fingers are too fat and my eye sights not that flash anymore, and frustration creeps into the equation a little earlier than it used to as well! After a bit of trial and error, you get the knack of driving them, and are a joy to use. Reckon I paid about $15 3 or 4 years ago...........Dr.Slick is the brand. Good luck.
  17. Never fished the Torrens then? lol Just joking, and I see your point
  18. Nifty little item, have seen them in some of the outdoor stores, and wondered about them too. Seem to be the goods indeed. Now that we have a real life test subject lol, might get a couple for the family before travelling overseas again. Cheers
