  1. Thanks Goldy for the contact I am in need of some flies myself and now you have pointed me in the right directions I can re-commence my flyfishing career I sorted got lost in the SP scene and drifted away from it but I am keen as mustard to now try it from my Hobie and score a few bream and mullies in our creeks. He does do a good job on them doesn't he.... and they catch fish too from the post's I seen of him and his captures, a very good fisho and have run into him in a few creeks over the years. I am so keen to hit the water and use the yak I got over a month ago but ended up i

  5. Cant say Ive ever heard of snapper at the Checker bouy myself I always fished there for whiting. Move in a bit closer towards the creeks might be more successful if you know a few of the drops out around Fourth Creek. I havent fished there this year yet but it was a bit disappointing last year for me so I am concentrating my efforts elsewhere at the moment. If you hear of few being caught let me know cheers snapps
  6. I always start around the X stick on the drift as Scizzors said and I usually fish the incoming tide early afternoon with success this time of year cheers snapps
  7. I was watching ET yesterday and he was fishing wide out of Arno bay in deep water and they were attaching a squid jag to their whiting lines above their hooks. It seemed to be working well with them getting both species on the one outfit. Im sure it work here too in our gulf. Ive just got to get the boat trailer done so I can get out cheers snapps
  8. What amazes me is how someone can see a shrimp in a drinking straw and then actually make it, very clever indeed. cheers snapps
  9. Ive been asking for a Barcrusher but that seems to be falling on deaf ears cheers snapps

  11. Well done fella's Im 57 in a few weeks and I have fond memories of fishing that same spot when I was your age. It was great to see the both of you enjoying your fishing it reminded me of myself and my mates way back then. The sad thing is the fishing was way better back then and the bream use to be that thick there especially in August Sept you could just about walk on em Great vidcheerssnapps
  12. You can get crabs from the wharf at Pt Pirie and also the jetty at Pt Germein using your nets. There is also a wharf at Pt Augusta where the shopping centre is so that might also be worth a shot, Ive never tried there but I lived at Pirie for years so I know the first 2 spots are good.cheerssnapps
  13. Thanks mate Ive still got a couple of issues Im dealing with but Im getting there.......Ive got the 15th of dec marked down as hopefully my first day back fishing at this stage.cheerssnapps
  14. I know that when I lived in Pt Broughton and Pirie pro's there would feed drops on a regular basis. Ive also been onboard a crab boat when the shell from the previous days picking has been dumped overboard on a drop and seen the chaos that followed with huge snapper on the surface feeding like tommies in a berley trial.cheerssnapps

  21. Yeah I agree with that Ive not bought any rods or reels there but general terminal tackle I still find it the best place to go plus I can get my boat stuff too. They are not the cheapest but I figure it still saves me money to avoid driving around town searching.cheerssnapps
  22. I was thinking exactly the same thing Jimbo The economy is not that bad BCF is not the end of the world nor is Foodland selling tackle, the sky is not falling. The way we live is changing, we all do things different than the way we did back in the 70's, 80, and 90's The tackle industry is changing as is all retail for that matter and needs to adapt to survive. The retail company I work for is showing growth and has become more involved with internet shopping its what the public want. If there was no demand for it it wouldnt be flourishing the way it is.I use BCF a lot these days not because I
  23. If the hi-gear means it has a high speed ratio then I would suggest you give it a miss if SP fishing is your aim. I'm of the opinion that the 2 don't go together.I use luvias 3000's for my snapperm fishing they do the job well but if the certate is what you are after then maybe get the standard model. They are a great reel and I know you wont be disappointed cheerssnapps
  24. I reckon you are out of luck with that one Im not aware of any such places that hire boats along our shores. Many years ago they did at St Kilda maybe the marina at West Beach but I think you are whistling Dixie mate.cheerssnapps
