Victoria do great things with the funds from Fishing License Fees. The monies go into a fund that is only to go back into fishing. Under South Australias Present Labot Government, it would not work as the funds ( If we had a fishing license ) would just go into general revenue.

Bend over UHF and apply liberal amount of lube, call me cynical.I'd love to see revenue raised V revenue spent..."We swear, none of this will ever go into general revenue..."SA Xlotto, all money will go to hospitalsRego, for roadsFuel exise, for roadsA once off emergency services levy to pay for a new communications systemI'm painting a picture here...

Guaranteed by two years time those spots that are secret now will be over run with every man and his dog once word gets out. I've seen numerous secret spots along the Metro Coast and out in the Gulf become over run and all in the last couple of years :(Once fishos always remained tight lipped.... but it seems to be the opposite in this day and age of electronic media etc

Yes snapper did frequent the Port River system years ago.. here's a snippet of some of my records from thirty years ago (have used Google Earth to make it a bit clearer snapper in the Barker Inlet opposite the St Kilda ChannelSnapper (at Night) - Usually incoming tides from dusk onwards, sharks and rays can also be hooked. Ground bait with fish heads / frames etc before the tide runs at full force. Snapper spook easily so be quiet and do not shine lights on the waterBait - fresh fillets of fish caught in the local area

Not silly aye fishie if the schools that bugga off on inshore and estuary adventures are the only ones that survive pro fishing, then these adventurous snapper pass on their adventure genes and through Darwin's laws of natural selection, give it another 50 year's and maybe the only place to catch snapper is in creeks where the pro's can't go!!!!!! I do like the idea that they are escapees from the Great St Vincent Gulf Slaughter

Fishies on the money here, best bet for them would be to try a barrumindi pellet,or chicken pellet ,put it on the hook with a small rubber band, or bait mate, drift it down to them with a tiny split shot about 2 ft from the hook.No expert here but I"d be of the idea that they are a school of escapees from a pen, bought up on a diet of pellets, the natural aproach of livies ect makes no sense to them, they are only young and havent had to fend for themselves long hunting down prey,a pellet is what they associate with food.Nice work to actually get one but give thinking outside the square a crack and see what happens, even a tiny piece of brown bread with a drop of tuna oil then moulded around the bend of a size 8 suicide hook may bring one undone.Cheers

The sea was fine in the Passage but once we got around past Willoughby the winds were howling across the top of Pennington Bay and Cape Hart in excess of 20 knots. Will have to see what reports come back this weekend Bad luck also missing out, but I guess we can't win all of the time.Passing through the rip at Willoughby was quite hairy and I even gave it a wide berth.. I was glad to get clear of there that's for sure

The wind was up again... we at least managed to get around to Cape Hart but it was too rough to search out wider for tuna. I reckon your best option would be to launch from Victor and search west of there for the tuna. We saw one school but a huge pod of dolphins went crazy and sent them deep
