Funny you mention the mono lifting. One cast i got a massive tangle of braid around the reel... on closer inspection somehow a loop about 3inches long come off my reel, half way down the spool.....Had to stand there for ages stripping line off the reel till i got to it then wind it all back on. Never had anything like that happen before.

Yeah we got out of the water and headed back to the car pretty quickly....

Anyone ever been zapped by there fishing rod?I was down at Tennyson before with dr_josh and a couple of his mates, there was a bit of thunder around when this happened but we got zapped by our rods, when i lifted my rod up to cast it sounded like high power powerlines where right next to me, then when i cast i would get a continual zap till my line stopped coming off. Josh had his rod under his arm and got a fair old zap causing him to drop it in the water....So what's the go? i'm guessing static in the air from the storm clouds?

Found holding the mould on a bit of angle helps also.

I'd watch running a ball sinker on the braid.... it will destroy it pretty quickly.

Is that mono or Braid?I was thinking more 50LB... just incase the big one come along.

How about for sharking?I have to get my new TLD25 spooled up shortly, and can't decide between braid or mono. With braid ill get my line on the spool, but mono will be a bit more forgiving if i get dragged over some reef or something.

Haha good video mate, nice work on the quick reflexes!It has happened to the best of us....One time in town fishing behind the zoo,a carp ripped my rod out of the holder and dragged it across the grass to the water... then into the water, i did a massive dive into the stinky torrens and managed to get a hand on it. Started fighting the fish in the water while back paddling to the bank, handed jimmy my rod, climbed out, fought the fish and landed it.... Would be one of my most memorable catches...Pic of me in the water, fight the fish.And said fish, bastard thing!
