  1. Boyo, got any footage of your regulaur drop off sullies? The divers tried explaining it to me and sounds pretty cool!!
  2. The forecast on Willy mustnt have been to bad if you still went out 6kms in a small tinny!!But thats cool man, saturday night proved that NON of them are ALWAYS right!!!! and I will endeaver to check all the sites next time we attempt a trip across. Live and learn I say.just glad we where in the big boat and not in Rowbak!!!In regards to the fishing, we didnt get much of a chance, but things where looking real good just before it blew up..... Im having a shocker of a summer fish wise
  3. willy and Seabreeze? I never bother with either since they are so often wrong!! Windfinder and most importantly BOM are the ones I use, and on saturday /sun, waters where to be less than .5m and less than .5m swell. We even thought it was ironic that upon our return to Westbeach the sign said SE, 5-10 knots!!My point is tho, yes, read all the forecasts, but most off all be aware that you will be 40kms away from land in the middle and if something happens you may have to call upon you and your boats abilities. If your not sure about any 3 off the above points, dont do it.On another note, on sat
  4. Yep, you did oarsomely as a skipper mate, you deserve a big pat on the back!! and Im very greatfull I was in the HMAS gibbs on sat night and not in Rowbak!! We had some crazy moments thats for sure!!
  5. If its a overhead, a trusty abu 6500 is a perfect match. I have such a setup with 20lb fins, good enough for me. I reckon there is a reel on here for $100, spoiled and never used
  6. What did I say yesty? amazing, mustve had a crystal ball!!I think for the better of this forum and all serious, responsible Skark fishos, this thread should be deleted or at least several posts removed. The spotlight is now well and truelly on, and plenty of posts in this thread are doing much more harm than good for our cause.I bet you my left nut many of you guys wouldn't say half the things you do behind a keyboard to peoples faces, much less bravado Next time your about to click send at the end of a post youve typed, think "would I say this to some ones face" and if not, I suggest you dont
  7. Some of you shark guys need to adjust your attitude me thinks, you honestly think the laws wont change inrellation to sharking if this kind of stuff is continued? All it will take is a pollie that hates you guys, with a knee jerk reaction, he or she will have enough dumb voters behind them and you guys wont know how good you had it till its gone. few new players in state politics atm, Im sure some off them out to make a name for themselves I suggest you pull your heads in, use a bit of common sense and play it on the down low cos else there will be repocussions. Seen it happen with many thing

When first cionstructed, we spent many a summer arvo landing schoolies next to the pontoon , inside the marina at its SW end. But now cant fish inside or even drive all the way to the end. everything about that "resort" sux....
  9. Now wouldnt that be a nice basket added to the flake!!! cheers rangerTaking into account what species are on offer, this area between the black and bastard pole, Im assuming its less than 10m deep? Find a spot of broken bottom/weed patches amongst the sandy desert, burley up and wait for the grey :f
  10. Ive been meaning to fish this area for a while, must really get onto it.Couple questions, whats the bycatch in this area whilst waiting for a grey suit? any squid around? and I'm assuming where the small fish are, the bigs ones cant be too far away, just dont fancy big mumma white giving my poor little Rowback a nudge/chew in the twillight hrs
  11. A thread from last year bloke, read thru it, I landed a 85cm red on a day that burley went straight to the bottom, and I was in shallow water as well. Not that Im all that experienced, but Ive caught fish when I shouldnt have and missed out when they've been a "certain"http://www.strikehook.com/forum/22-saltwater-fishing/135601-is-it-worth-fishing-for-snapper-with-the-dodge?limit=15&start=30
  12. Thanxs heaps guys!!! I had to make a decision and last night ordered a SIM thruVirgin!!! They use the optus network and for $29/month I get $450 worth of calls/sms, 500MB of data and $10 back for the first 10mnths. Internet offer only, month to month contract, no breaking fees.Hope I dont regret it I know telstra is the go covergare wise, but in the past had major greif with their billing and I just couldnt justfy the extra cost. The above plan wouldve been around $59-69 month thru them with a new phone which I dont need.Happy medium I hope, Il report back to this thread for others refere
  13. Thanx jack, start at new joint next Monday, 6 kms from home ,same $$$$ but with 20 hrs less a week. Means I can join you on more sat morn trips. I hear yas about phones for safety, but 90% of my fishing is done a couple kms from shore and Telstra have been ace,but now since Il be paying the bills I have to research. Not many on vodaphone aye?Thanx boys
  14. Guys, in the market for a phone plan and wondering what providers your using and what's your coverage like. My work phone was with Telstra and I always had service. I will now be paying my wn bills so shopping around. I'm seeing vodaphone / 3 have the best value for money plans, but heard from a few non fisho's that the coverage and data rates leave lots to be desired. I live metro, and usually fish local and and down south (gulf). Any body care to share their experience? I also intend on using the phone as a chart plotter with the navionics ap and know a few others do the same.thanx guys
  15. sorry bloke, my bad
  16. Sfs and tackle world on port rd have a big range of Jewels.
  17. I have the 7.1 ft 6-8kg spinning model, great rod for the price, I too got it during an Anaconda sale, and paid $60 odd for it. Matched it to a Shimano Sonora 4000FB and 20lb braid. Its a great, affordable snapper spinning outfit all for well under $150 spooled and ready to go. Got a couple nice fish last summer in the shallow water, and it makes easy work of skull dragging snook and salmon trout on the troll
  18. I choose a 3kg one piece Jewel over the T curve rev cos it was stiffer in the tip
  19. Thought it was bit early for local lellafants. Any salmon around tho?
  20. Best bet would be to take advantage of the current south easterly and slack tide and float out a couple tommie's on a wire jag out from the rocks. Best land based area would be out the front of the Marino Kiosk, near the old boat ramp there. If casting jags, take a few spares cos its hard to gauge how deep they are sitting when fishing from the shore and its a fine line between getting snagged, and getting the jag down into the strike zone.A boatie I spoke to at the ramp yesty got a few in that area.
  21. I caught salmon trout on some ebay cheap rubbish poppers in mirror calm conditions on dusk last winter at Port Augusta. Was cool fun.
  22. I picked a Jewel over the revolution cos it was "stiffer",$120 @ sfs
