1. Very unusual and uncommon catch, must have put up a good fight. What was it caught on?
2. By along do you mean offshore by boat?Did you catch it or someone you know?
3. http://forums.egullet.org/topic/26036-knife-maintenance-and-sharpening/This is the best online guide I have found.I have a ceramic pull through wheel, plenty of stones and a few japanese oil stone and also the chefs choice electric sharpener described in the article. For 90% of my knives I use the electric sharpener as it gives a very good edge and is quick. For my expensive japanese knives I use various grades of stones.
4. Was there monday and yep, closed. Plenty of tommies, and chow and trumpeter around. A few crabs and squid.
5. http://www.powerpro.com/publish/content/global_fish/en/us/power_pro_v2/info/using_powerpro0.htmlKonrad Krauland founded Innovative Textiles in 1992 in Grand Junction, Colorado, with the intent of manufacturing high strength braided lines for sport kiting. However, the need for a braided fishing line that was compatible with light tackle angling pushed Innovative Textile's development and manufacturing team to research, test, and develop a new braided super line - a small diameter line offering greater strength and less stretch than traditional monofilament lines. In 1997, Innovative Textiles in

7. All you need are your hands and feet and a bucket to put them in. The cockles are anywhere from just short of the high water mark down to the low water level. At the moment they are out a bit deeper so low tide is easier.Wade out a bit and twist your feet. You will feel them under your bare feet and can pick them up by hand. Remember to take a measure as many are undersize. If you are not getting any, try shallower or deeper and keep moving down the beach. When you hit a patch you can pull dozens without moving very far.Put them in an esky and keep them cool

9. Sounds like you punctured the gall bladder and had some bile leak.Urea and Ammonia should not be green
10. Never thought about looking in the fly fishing section' date='i didn’t think fly fishing used 60Lb line.I have been bringing this one in..............15Lb to 60LbSorry, I was been sarcastic. I don't think anyone uses proper tapered shock leaders here in Australia and most people will have no idea what you are talking about or assume you are after a flyfishing leader. The casting guys using them here all import them.Importing from NZ might be an idea as wellhttp://www.tackletactics.co.nz/leader.html
11. Need to import from UKAsk about taper surfcasting leaders and most guys will point you towards the fly fishing section

14. Expensive gear is just so nice to use.One of the snapper outfits I use is a pair of saltiga surf threadlines with a pair of custom Poseidon 5 surf rods. Over $1000 each combo
15. I like the seajiggers, but have recently moved onto 12 foot surf rods for the extra distance and control. If I am shore based and not jetty based I will use my 14 foot surf rods.
16. Depends on the knot and the guides used. I prefer a modified slim beauty knot as the tag end does not catch when casting.I like low rider guides on my surf rods. These help prevent knots catching and line catching on the guides. Other than Salt creek, I like to use braid, with long mono leaders for most of my surf work.If weed is bad I will use mono, but still have 6m or so of heavy mono casting leader.
17. On the spool with several wraps at least. A heavy leader is essential for casting heavy weights and preventing bustoffs, especially power casting (OTG, pendulum).A rough rule if 10lb of leader for every ounce of casting weight.Eg casting 4oz, use a 40lb leader. 6 oz, use 60lbHowever not many rods available off the rack here in Australia have the power for proper power casting.
18. Like most I started with fireline, then moved to power pro and fins. I use sunline castaway on my bream gear, and daiwa accudepth tournament on the snapper rod and Varivas Avani GT for the heavy stuff.Fins is not bad, better than fireline.
19. Fish are everywhere at the moment. I got mine near the rowing club and bridges.
20. Bagged out in Westlakes yesterday from the Yak. Most fish took the double clutch, but the bushy's stiffy minnow also did well. Unfortunately for the shore based lurecasters, the fish were just out of casting distance and they had to watch me pull up fish after fish.I usually just bleed by cutting the neck, let the blood drain, a quick rinse, then straight on ice.
21. Redfin are not fussyWolly buger, muddler minnow, and epoxy minnows all workI like some flash and some red in the fly. If it is a minnow imitation, big stick on eyes also help the fly to stand out.As I kid I even use to bind some Kangaroo fur around a longshank hook with red cotton thread and fish 3 hooks on a paternoster rig and just jig it up and down and catch plenty of redfin.
