  1. SpeedYou need to cut the tubes off at an angle about 30cm or 40cm under the ground. If you take your time digging around the tube the worms will just go deep and you will be left with an empty tube.
  2. http://www.campbellsprotackle.com/store/product.asp?ID=6354Kingfisher PoseidonYou will need to replace the lowest guide with a lowrider or larger guide and also put on a higher reel seat if you can't cast low mount.I have 2 sets with the light, medium and heavy tips. This rod will outcast any off the shelf rod available in Australia. The light tip is designed for pendulum casting 4oz leads + bait. I fished mine with 6oz and a big bait and it still had power to spare with an overhead thump.Full graphite and will balance great with an Ultegra 14000
  3. What rod reel and line do you use?light soft plastics work well but you need finesse gear.
  4. I grew up fishing south coast NSW and have caught plenty of slimies on sabikis. I use to tie my own with heavier trace and hooks as you occasionally get some odd captures on them. I have caught squid, trevally, and salmon on them and my bro has caught a rat kingie on one.Just be aware that you need to cut them in half in SA to stick to the 3 hook limit. They work well with a bit of bait and a reasonable sized sinker to keep the rig straight. If your sinker is too light the first slimie will roll and twist the trace.I still find the fastest way to catch slimies is a hook and bait. Get them bur
  5. Pain is defined as an unpleasant sensory and emotional experience associated with actual or potential tissue damage, or described in terms of such damageNociception is the detection of extremes of mechanical, chemical or thermal stimuli by nerve cells to protect against tissue damage.Pain is a much more complex phenomena and thus the definition allows for the whole emotional experience of what is happening. The definition also allows for the experience of potential rather than actual tissue damage.Everyone's perception of pain is different. Pain plays a useful evolutionary role of teaching us
  6. It depends how you define painAre you talking Nociception and the activation of nerve fibres or the emotional component associated with many higher limbic and cortical function?
  7. Nice tip. What burley do you use for YFW and do you find it helps?I usually don't burley when I fish for them as it attracts the rubbish fish.
  8. Very impressive fish. They are incredibly similar in looks, habit and feeding. They look identical and usually the only clue it is not a mulloway is the pic of the angler with a low mount overhead combo. Here is the storyhttp://www.fishingec.com/?p=5072I have been a fan of South African/UK distance casting and bait techniques for a while now. There are a few of us here in South Australia and Australia who like to fish a little differently. I actually prefer an extra high mount threadline combo rather than a low mount overhead, and I still struggle with OTG casting and can't pendulum, but I do l

  11. For their price, the Sensor Surfs are one of the thinner diameter and lighter graphite surf rods available off the shelf. They are much lighter and thinner than the equivalent glass or cheaper graphite blank and this makes them nicer and less tiring to use. They are great for simple overhead thump casting with high end light surf threadlines (eg. saltiga surf)However a Penn spinfisher 9500 might be a bit heavy for the sensor surf. A graphite composite 4120 or 5120 or 8144 might be better suited balance wise.
  12. TripodThere is a guy in Victoria who makes them.http://www.australiansurfcastingfederation.org/AsfForum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=1330&p=7053
  13. yep STsmall eye, yellow pectoral fin, lack of a distinct black line or tips on the tailalso the scales would have smooth rather than rough if you run your fingers from tail to head
  14. The ET soft plastic rod is almost identical to the Catana and well within price range.I have used the Catana as well as several Starlo stix before I upgraded to better gear and all will suit very nicely for light work.If you can stretch to $100 you can pick up a new raider from Ray and Annes http://www.rayannes.com.au/daiwa-shimano-reels-australia/rods-reels/shimano/shimano-rods/shimano-raider-finesse-bream-99/

    Fish ID :D

Yep strongfish (Dusky Morwong)Good for crab or shark bait. You can eat them if you fillet them then soak the fillets in milk, but there are better eating fish out there.
  16. http://www.fujitackle.com.au/recipes.htmThe recipe for the FSU 4120 would work.
  17. All tackle stores will have a few guides and bits and pieces to get you out of trouble.Online, I buy from The Rod Works, Motackle and Campbells Pro Tackle.Good quality guides are cheaper to buy overseas.
  18. Had a quick prefish today and managed a few bream to 33cm. Should be interesting fishing with the lower water level and lack of tidal movement. Prepare to get muddy
  19. That's an awesome tailor from anywhere in Aus?Nice work AzzaWhat did it weigh/measure?Did you keep it? Fresh tailor is one of my fravourite fish to eat and something I really miss after moving to SA from the eastern states.
  20. 6 weight rod and line will be fine for trout, carp and redfin and salmon trout, whiting, bream, and mullet in the salt.
  21. http://www.flyfishinggear.info/buyers_guide/fly_rods_weight.shtm"Fly Line Weight MeasurementFly line is measured by its weight in grains. Since grains is not a real helpful way to measure things, the fly rod manufacturers have devised a simple numbering system that define the weight of the fly line. This numbering system spans a scale from 1-14, with the lightest fly line being a weight of 1 and the heaviest fly line being a weight of 14.The reason for all the differences in line weight is because different line weights are best suited for particular fishing situations. For example, a heavy li
  22. Welcome TonyIf you specifically want to go carp/coarse fishing then join up and introduce yourself at Australian Freshwater Angling. Many of the members are Expat Poms are very keen coarse fisherman. I am sure some of the Adelaide members will be able to help out.http://anglers.proboards.com/index.cgi?You don't need a license to fish in south Australia, but make sure you make a look at the regulationshttp://www.pir.sa.gov.au/fisheries/recreational_fishing
  23. Fish Biltong or Jerky are different again and something I would like to try making.Compared to an Asian dried fish, you use pieces of fish, less salt as well as spices and sometimes vinegar to cure the fish. The end product is ready to eat by itself and does not require any extra preparation once dried.http://southafricaspearfishing.blogspot.com/2009/07/fish-biltong-recipe.htmlhttp://www.dehydratorbook.com/fish-jerky.html
  24. I have not tried it but assume the smell would be similar to that of breeding gents which I have done a few times. My Parents are Malaysian Chinese and dried fish is occasionally used in the cuisine.Drying was an important method of preserving fish in times of surplus before the time of refrigeration. Like most peasant origin foods it has grown into a delicacy. Essentially you clean scale gut and gill a fish then split it in half. It is then sprinkled with salt and placed outside to dry. It is important to keep the flies out of it otherwise you get maggot. The salt and the drying acts to preserv
  25. Stinky smelly work. Need to do it outdoors. Not worth it due to the ease of buying dried fish from specialty grocers.
