    I suppose you could give them a go but wouldn't think too big.   After all, a successful lure is the Sugapen 95 and that is longer (but not cheap).  The 70mm is worth having too.
    The best thing is to have a range of sizes and types - on the day, what doesn't work another might.
    Have a look at these posts by mikecatts - he has a range of lures of lures that may help in what to have in your kit.

    Cheers Anaconda have some but not in stock.  Would the double clutch 75 be too big for whiting and size 10 assist hooks. I’ve got the double clutch 60 and 75. Thinking 60 might be better

    Yep  Should be about $6-7.
    Tackle shops will have them (not bcf etc) so shouldn't need to order (unless you have too).
    Can get with some frilly things on the end as well, but wouldn't really bother.

    No worries I’ll have a look now. Are these what I should order?

    Cheers for the reply, That’s good to know. Trebles can be a pain at times.

    I have a packet of Atomic Trick Bitz in size #010- NS, I guess that is size 10 and whatever the NS means. Is that size good for YFW?

    hope you had a good Xmas and New Year and have been getting a few fish

    Yep it's the way to go.  Even add a couple more split rings to give more swing with the hooks.
    You can put assist hooks on the belly which of course provides another chance of a hook up, but most don't.
    Size 8 assist hooks.
    Good luck on Sunday.

    I was reading this post and I noticed the Lures just had assist hooks only, no trebles or hooks on the belly. Is that a good way of doing it when chasing YFW? I’m going to target some on Sunday and would like to know so I can change some hooks over.

    cheers

    Looked very similar to the older ones on Google image search, so his must've been fairly new. Thanks for your help mate, was driving me nuts!

    Hi guys, sorry if this is in the wrong forum section, but I need some help identifying.
    I had a customer come into work today who needed to purchase fishing rod holders for his new boat - he said maker was Janko? But that was all I could get out of him.
    This thing looked insane. I have been googling for hours and can't work out who sells it.
    It was basically a 3x3 m fishing platform, but of a Bimini cover for shade, all seemed to be made out of aluminium, hand rails all around, standing about 2 metres in the air, movable by 4 big off road tyres. The image he showed me, they were fishing in the shallows on a beach. Didn't look like it had an outboard, Only the wheels.
    If anyone has any idea what this thing is, or if you think it was a custom build, please let me know. Cheers.

    Could be a Jinker? Kind of like a high top tractor that can drive through the water. There’s a few guys on the northern flats that use them to launch tinnys if I recall.

    Good water, lots of trout and looked a lovely day in the background with nice green pastures - what else could you ask for

    Good clear video
    I fillet my fish similar to that.
    With Gar, I can butterfly them pretty well -- but with other fish I find it difficult.
    So I'd be up to seeing a video on butterflying
    Thanks again for putting up.

    Just completed a video on how to fillet fish (using Tommy Rough as an example).
    Let me know what you think.
    If you find it useful, let me know what the subject should be for the next one.

    doobie reacted to Soobz in Braid: Strength vs Diameter vs PE
    I keep having to look this up so I thought I'd produce a guide I can refer back to, and maybe it helps others.
    Many would know braid labelled strength vs diameter is all over the place in AU, with seemingly no consistency.
    The reason for this is the US market decided they would label braid based on the mono equivalent size rather than it's true breaking strength, except they didn't really do that and it's a seemingly meaningless number. In Europe they generally label with the actual breaking strain. Australia seems to have gotten a mishmash.
    eg. JBraid x8 0.13mm (from the labels)
    EU = 8kg
    AU = 3.8kg/8lb
    US = 8lb
    All of them are made in Japan, same factory, why is the EU one 2x stronger? Because it's not, they are all the same line. Also, 8lb mono would be more like 0.25mm, so it's not even like it's truly a mono equivalent number.
    I use Tasline for my Vanford 2000, their 12lb is 0.128mm (yeah right, like they can measure a non round braid to 0.001mm), and they state they expect it to break at 20.6lb or 9.3kg, so at least you get an idea of what it's really intended to hold. I have not had one single wind knot with that 'thin as hell miles casting line', unlike the JBraid that I've had a few with.
    Here's the charts I use now, it's Tasline's numbers, they tie up with somewhat similar number to Sufix 832, JBraid and Kairiki - at least a hell of a lot closer than the AU labels.
    Test 8 lb 12 lb 15 lb 20 lb 30 lb 40 lb 50 lb 60 lb 80 lb 100 lb Diameter in mm 0.115 0.128 0.163 0.225 0.299 0.317 0.332 0.422 0.48 0.545 PE Rating 0.5 0.6 1 1.7 3 3.5 4 6 8 10 Actual Average Break 14.2 lb 20.6 lb 23.7 lb 34.7 lb 49.0 lb 59.2 lb 78.5 lb 91.6 lb 116.2 lb 138.2 lb

    With 15 days to go to their anticipated 're-opening', will they finish on time 🤔
    With moving of the inner breakwall over to do works, there seems to be plenty of room still for the sailing club.
    If they don't add a 3rd pontoon, it'll be a robbery.
