  1. All i can suggest is , fish the Onk and while you are there , learn and take note . It is a funny river to fish and might take a while to figure it out . Dont forget livies have to be of legal size to use and dont wory about the size of the livie as this will get you the bigger fish . Search on here and some extra info will come up . I will hopefully be doing guided tours soon and could help you get onto that Mully . Good luck
  2. Well done fella . They are a good fighting fish for size ? Did ya think it was a decent Cod ?
  3. I am up for a challenge Piranha . Have already landed a 70cm Cod on 6lb
  4. Yeah i mainly chase Mullys but i catch everything on 6lb setup from Mully's to Cod Callop Catfish Silvers Carp Snapper Bream Redfin and this is all on the one out fit . I just use the different leader for different situations ? Hell i have used a 4lb set up with 20lb leader chasing Mully's before and biggest i landed was an 80cm . Just set your drag accordingly .
  5. My light out fits are 4lb and 6lb . I always use either 10lb 15lb or 20lb leader depending on what i am targeting . Leader is always heavier or the same as main line . Your outfit is only as strong as the weakest link . I see it all the time where people are using 8lb main with 4lb leader and are wondering why the keep getting busted off ????? The leader needs to be fairly strong because this is a the business end and where you are going to get the most abrasion . And yeah i chase mainly Mulloway but if you have a decent leader on and a fish takes you into a snag you have less chance of the le
  6. Hey fella , went down on sat and didn't even have a sniff from any thing ? might be coz i am a s@#$ fisherman tho .
  7. This is awesome to hear reports like this . I also would be in the mind to help them but it does sound like they were only getting what they needed . I would possibly take one . It does make me laugh that the government is SOOOOOOO worried about the salinity levels of the lower lakes when before the barrages it was a salty tidal area ????? go figure .
  8. Just a cm bigger than my pb ya B@#$%$d . Well done fella glad your getting into a few now ,
  9. It is a great write up shimsman with some great info there and the style of live bait rig can be different to what others use and is always good to have another person point of view to try on the day . Dont worry about the negative people on here as they are all talk and no fish . I too ask myself what has your background got to do with any thing ? Some people hey . I have posted up on here a few how to videos but unfortunately there are a few c@#$heads that spoil it for the rest . Persevere and conquer , look forward to some more hints and tips from your self as a second point of view never h
  10. Hey fella great intro you have done there . It might pay to shorten it down a tad tho only because i have noticed that when you looking through videos that if it goes to long at the start it takes more away from what you are trying to deliver .
  11. Pretty sure it is through the whole water column . If there are any undulations on the sea floor then these will obviously impede the flow and slow it down but i have had sinkers go side ways all the way down and some times so side ways they don't even hit the bottom .
  12. think its a pipe fish or pike fish . cant remember how it is pronounced .
  13. Doubt it but those illegal Carp stokers probably will ?
  14. Nice one fella . I got a few fresh water fish . Haven't hit up the Onk for a little bit tho and intend on doing so soon .
  15. Yeah i don't think so tinker . I have had people ask me to do this also ? Might have to give it a crack .
  16. I have been using a 2000 size reel 6lb line an a 6' 2-4kg rod but i have used my 4'10 yak hard rod with 2000 size reel 4lb and this set up has landed a pb of 80cm Onk Mully that took over 12min to land . Always use min 12lb leader though
  17. That would of sucked Knackers , most of the time that side does all right ??? Should of hoped in the tinnie and jumped onto the other side . As for being up to your armpits , stuff that . Your a braver man than I .
  18. I would try an work on a low tide but that being said the recent bout of bad weather would of changed the conditions down there , even from the weekend it will be different . You could try but be prepared not to make it . Be careful and aware of the track conditions and how much fuel you are using . We went up one day , not as far as the mouth and two days later with a bit of a swell and high tide the track had changed ? A 4x4 that got between the leading car and us rolled it of the track and onto it's roof . Good luck .
  19. So you are actually fishing Salt creek then and not the Coorong ? I know the Coorong is right behind you but when your fishing off the beach it is more Goolwa beach to the mouth and then Salt creek to the mouth , which is the more productive side of the mouth but a hell of a drive back to get to the mouth . Most of the beach down that way does all right .
  20. Went down sat and got onto a couple of Mully's on SP's . There are still around all though it took a bit to find them ?
  21. I can just see it now . Me rocking up to get the Canoe a.k.a. Mully Magnet surveyed and the fellas in the white shirts and clip boards saying "are you serious" and just bursting into laughter . Kon said :Particularly given that there is no financial reward for the individual making the upload... I did hear or read that if you use said video on a sponsored site . Then technically , i believe that lures or fishing gear given to you IS the financial reward . So my understanding is if you don't post videos to a sponsored site and don't get Lures fishing gear and the like (financial reward) then yo
