    squid jags

I use an old fashioned teaser-tommy or gar on an 8 pronged jag - why waste a bait
  2. you gotta steam them-youll never boil em again especially if u have garlic in the steam and a nice chili and garlic marinade poured onto them
  3. Ive been eying of the Storm Wildeye Twitching Nipper range and wonder if anyone has ever used them. They look they may be good for the Port River but at $7 i'm going to need feedback to justify the output
  4. all the local jetties. I used to have more luck at Semmy and st kilda but that was a long long time ago.
  5. I like my 14 footer as opposed to 12 foot-but thats just me and a matter of preference. The wilson MT8144 is a bloody good rod from what ive heard but me im still doing ok with my old rebuilt butterworth
  6. thats one hell of a healthy, fat bream u caught-well done

    squid jags

Ive got a home made one thats white bellied, red head, orange top - tapering to white on sides with black bands-i like to cover all bases. I dont know if its the colours, size (#4) or slightly heavier weight or sheer dumb luck but its scored me one hell of a lot of feeds this summer
  8. I scored an old butterworth solid years ago and just cut it down for an alvey-worked wonders but if u want to go new and top quality go for the wilson MT8144
  9. smoked snook make good tucker
  10. welcome aboard-southie's spot on with gar loving gar flesh - they love it heaps. I often grab a small gar before i take off if on a garfish excursion as an addition to my gents
  11. Just checked out my latest copy of Wild Coast and saw my son with his Stenhouse Bay squid on the brag board - cant wait to show him
  12. Came across a book the other day "Snapper Secrets" by Steve Cooper. Has a handy section that gives some GPS marks for most states (including us lol) Has the usual snapper info but i though beginners may find the marks handy to have-being a land based fisherman im afraid the book has little to offer
  13. It may seem a tad extreme but i tie knots every couple of feet along the rope to give me good solid hand holds and to stop rope slipping through my fingers
  14. If you havent done so think also about a length of chain to use between to rope and the gaff. Espescially if using triple hook gaff as this stops is turning side on and making hooking up a pain

    trout

must admit last time i passed that way it was looked like the dry creek bed from pt wakefield had been resitutated-not a drop to be seen
  17. wow top job for a young bloke. Now u gotta start to worry if he only wants to catch the big ones from now on lol
  18. ah bugger it lol. Let us know how it tastes next time u score 1 lol Maybe we should combine the answers and call it a Bling Fish-shiny but possibly cheap and nasty lol
  19. only ever caught one ling and that was at rapid bay. It was really pink in colour and looked a lot like a carfish-tail wise. Dadused to call them kingclips and they cook up a treat. I reckomn this bugger is a bearded rock cod as well as taste pretty average but are quite tasty when smoked - yeah i know theyre also hard to light
  20. port gawler beach is good for raking-if u want to go a little further give thompsons beach a go.
  21. Rivers running fast and deep so everyone please be careful. The undertow is a real bugger at the moment so if anyone wants a swim take heaps of care-maybe tying off a swimming zone should be considered. The backwaters are filling nicely so hopefully good breeding will take place as well as a top rate of yabbies and shrimps. Also time to catch the cod for catch and release is now upon us so maybe some nice pics are in the making.
  22. gimp is a top freebie programme. I use the photshop cs4, and also fing ulead is a very handy and useful programme as well
  23. Heres a pick of the old girl-the reel was corroded onto the rod but got it free today and after a service she ace. Check out the runners-and only 1 was badly worn-now thats quality
