  1. you can bag some solid jewies around he Vincent area- land based
  2. Goodluck mate, i'ts always an adventure down there. Gets bloody cold so beware!
  3. Hey mate- people who know when where and how to fish the Onk do very well on Bream, with salmon trout, mullet and yellowfin whiting occasional catches. Plenty of school mulloway ranging from juveniles in the 50 cm bracket up legal size and over get caught frequently. Most of the mulloway get caught on live baits, but alot of people use small deep diving minnow lures or soft plastics.
  4. You're probably going to need a bit more grunt than that at salt Creek mate. Best bet for livies there is salmon trout, there should be plenty about if conditions are half decent. The squid you have should be fine, i avoid the californian frozen bricks of imported squid like the plague. Fresh squid is always best (caught or bought that day)- i like the humble IQF pilchard at salt creek- The Mullies swallow them like jelly beans. Rub them in some coarse salt to toughen them up a couple of days prior to your mission.
  5. This Parnka Point sounds interesting. Never heard of it
  6. it's a bit of a waste land out there if you are there at the wrong time. Yellowfin are the bestoption in warm months on a rising early morning or late afternoon tide, you can bag out if you use live clickers as bait. This time of year, i know it may sound a bit crazy, but i would specifically target flathead on soft plastics. Let the heavy jig head sink completely on the sand patches and then work your jig erratically and slowly
  7. The Basin , Chrismas Cove should produce a genuine mixed bag of quality table fish
  8. Where do you tackle your land based reds? I know back in the 70's Semaphore jetty was a hotspot. The breakwalls at outer harbour and west beach could be worth half a chance. I usually to head to fleurieu to tangle with a few land based reds.
  9. Let's blue-sky this one.......I'll get the ball rolling........1. Fowlers- mulloway, monster squid, gar...need I say more?2.Venus bay-quaint, a long way from work and plenty of trevally and k.g.w3.Stenhouse- great sharkin4.Pt.Kleins- off the radar, deep and dangerous.5.Rapid Bay (old jetty)- the memories live on.What about you?
  10. :f :f Looks as solid as a rock! Obviously u don't have to lug your gear over sand by foot!
  11. Boil your carp in a billy with sea water and a stone. Then throw away the carp and eat the stone Nah seriously, sounds good, i will try it. I actually pickle carp fragments with the usual vinegar/chilli/lime/brown sugar/ herbs....a single jar once saved me when i got bogged solo deep on the peninsular.
  12. I usually stuff the tube with high grade mince, pearl rice and some finely chopped chilli and capsicum. Wrapped in alfoil and baked in a very hot oven.
  13. Ha ha, great feedback....they re bloody powerful, and pretty accurate from memory. Maybe I should post my bb gun post next in 'off the topic'. I think thats my first post that has inspired a typically sage like response from ranger.. :f
  14. Hey team- I've noticed that high grade, high powered slingshots are re emerging in some tackle stores. They are marketed as distributing pellet stlye baits in the surf. I haven't seen slingshots for sale for ages, although i remember gun shops and Super Elliots always stocked them.About 20 years ago I got busted by the cops in possession of one and got in strife. I have checked several websites and it appears that sling shots are legal, providing they don't have a wrist brace- which seems strange but fair enough.Tthe ones i've seen in tackle stores don't have a wrist brace by the way. My resea
  15. What does a guy have to do to ollow in your footsteps big fella?
  16. If you have a lot of time, mulloway cruise the breakwall at times
  17. G'day team- i've landed a few 10 pound drummer from the rocks on Fleuriou (the ledge). A couple i jagged with triple ganged hooks and whole pilchards (during a feeding frenzy with heaps of burley in the water). When they have been there usual cagey selves i have nabbed them on tiny hooks, a tiny morsel of squid, and once, a frozen pea did
  18. Marion Bay...the beaches down there are starting to turn up a few monsters. Plenty of salmon at nearby Browns Beach too
  19. A Wobbegong on a Pilchard at Osullivans Breakwall, a mulloway when targetting salmon trout on a cockle (Wirrina breakwall) and a tidy Yellowbelly, caught on a crude silver wobbler i fashioned from a soup spoon.
