  1. mate when doing a number 2, you needa lay a decent plop protector.
  2. you get Splash-back, A toilet mans worst nightmare.
  3. Blades haven't even crossed my mind! But is sounds genius! I'll be in Lincoln in a couple of weeks, I'll definitely be giving them a whirl if the opportunity presents! They cast a breeze!
  4. Placcies are good and prob ideal, but don't cast anywhere near as efficiently as a metal, or even a bait and they wear out. I find halco slices silver of gold (good middle of the day) or Knight wedges in 20gms in the pink (ideal colour in lowlight) land me a couple a greenbacks.I have had good success on 2kg+ Salmon on 15-20gm lures. No brainer that you can fire much bigger casting distance with the right gear and with more ease. And when ya battle 2kg+ fish on 2000-2500 gear you'll really learn what salmon are about. Still good fun on the ol'surf gear, which is obviously will still be dominan
  5. Keen!!But disturbed has already described my situation
  6. I generally employ both the above tactics but not generally both at once, If I'm fishing a gutter that we have easy access to (say by 4wd) then star droppers are the go. But if not I'll generally ditch the bag and dropper and dig the burley in, and get a decent trail started by plopping a stack of oil in to draw them in quickly.
  7. Great fish mate, no one complaining about that bi catch
  8. haha what irony!!!Sounds like it's your lucky day. :woohoo: Maybe they have a new design for that model. Either way prob won't be too different.
  9. No worries mate, I don't think you'll be disappointed, maybe wait till Kathmandu have another sale, you'll prob pick it up for a bargain like I did.
  10. http://www.kathmandu.com.au/Hiking_Equipment/Lighting_&_Accessories/60889/Head_Torch_XP-E_Cree_Q4.htmlI own this puppy. It's brilliant for hunting. Has a blue (for hunting, blood etc.), green (for map reading), and 2x red (for night eye and emergency)leds. It has a 1.5w cree white LED which has a dimming and a 4x focus or 1x flood control. and is Water resistant. Plus it doesn't have the annoying battery pack separated, and is wicked for battery life. I picked it up for 48 bucks over Christmas last year (from $120), I looked around couldn't find anything that even remotely matched it for p
  11. just soak for as long as you can afford in the kiwi, I would say no less than a couple of hours and ideally over night. I've used this before, and it works a treat, especially if you're not overly experienced with cooking squid.
  12. Might be a dumb question.I know the mullies don't dig wire traces, but I know you can get proper nylon coated so the wire isn't exposed and is pretty insulated. Would this still deter them?
  13. Nice!!Yeah wat ya waiting for? I'm waiting for a good read!
  14. haha ah good times ey! the debate will never come to an end.
  15. my exact point Carps. No one should just aimlessly buy a reel without doing a bit of research before hand. regardless of brand. Shimano hasn't yet failed me, even with their lower range gear, so who am I to not recommend them?
  16. My flick reel is a shimano Symetre 2500 good reel for about 130 bucks, lasted me a couple of seasons and still going strong and I havn't taken the best care of it. This reel would definitely suit your needs. I've done battle with big Salmon and carp on this reel and it didn't struggle once. But in the future I'll be definitely looking into a Stradic or Twin Power and prob go down to a 1500 instead.Don't be afraid to look at Daiwa as well, very smooth reels and pack a good punch.
  17. sup Jas!!Welcome to S&H! yeah yeah.Trust Me, This January will be smoking!
  18. thanks BigAsh! Add karma, I learnt that exact knot off another site last night but at least I don't have to worry about tying the wrong knot when snelling large poundage mono
  19. Thanks I'll take this to heart, as I have aways neglected the ol' snell. I often find myself using 120 pound mono what kind of knot would I usew ith that heavier line as the knots I've tied recently havn't been very good at all...
  20. We'll be hanging closer to Dog fence we reackon, but my mates have it sorted, Hopefully this season produces some more fish than last, heard it's been slow up that way.
  21. I'm gonna be down that part of the world again in january as well! This video makes me pumped
  22. Hello beautiful forum dwellers. The other year I found an beaut of a rod in my shed, which musta been my gramps or my uncles or something. It was pretty beat up so I decided to do it justice but getting all the guides replaced. It originally had a roller guide as the rod tip but I got that changed over. I'm not exactly sre what it is as Google isn't given me any results. It says it's a Sportsfisher Ocean S... the S is for Something I don't know what this last work is. It's made in the USA and it's action is heavy. I'm in the process of sanding, panting, varnishing the rod butt which is wood
  23. I have roughly followed it, and while it has yeilded some good results, as expected there were also unfruitful results.Like optimax said keep your own records, as each fishing location has its own habits. With both your own data and the almanac combined I'm sure you'd be in with an even better formula :woohoo: .
  24. I also went looking for them the other month but was told in my local tackle store they arn't being made anymore, maybe the business went under???Forgive me anyone if this isn't correct
  25. Rocknev, same thing kept happening with me out Fowlers bay. All my sessions on the jetty big squid reeked havoc on my live squid baits even when i upgraded to bigger live baits they kept killing each other. They are vicious creatures them squid. I'll def give the cockle or squid on the jag a shot next time.
