  1. We always drift, but drifting and fanning casts while drifting.. Usually drift till we get one then if we don't get another for awhile cruise back to the start and drift again...Always use a bucket with a lid and a hole cut in the top... Grab the squid behind the head and squeeze as you bring them in and then in the hole in the bucket so they can't have a second crack...
  2. 50m doesn't seem very far... I would've thought it would be more to do with the anti terror laws and pretty sure a bomb will still destroy the jetty from 50m...
  3. I've only ever done it on feel and never had a problem... Think you can over analyse things with fishing sometimes...
  4. I think a lot of people miss the point when stealing spots also.I fished with a guy during my recent holidays who only fishes certain spots until the sun comes over the Adelaide Hills. He then has other spots that fire on the run out tide, others on the dead tide, and again others on the run in tide...THAT is exactly why I went fishing with him because I might be able to steal his spots but buggered if I have the time to fish every stage of the tide and every time of the day to work out when the fish bite best.Charter operators also know this as they have the time and resources to try new spot
  5. Just received this via email.Hi Nathan and Peter, On behalf of Biosecurity SA I’m organising a forum on aquatic pests- weeds, fish and reptile species that will look at identification, what to do if a new species is found as well as some case studies on existing incursions. These forums are free to attend and will be beneficial for anyone working or interested in our freshwater aquatic environments in SA. Keith Jones from SARDI passed on your emails as key contacts that could help by sharing this information within your fishing groups. I’d like to ensure that recreational fishers
  6. Yep, having spoke to fisheries guys a few times the metal rulers are the best things to use as they don't shrink and are also what fisheries use to measure your fish....
  7. I think it can be too short, but it can't be too long. I normally go a rod length and a bit...And as Ranger says, it is normally much shorter by the end of the day after tying and retying on jig heads....
  8. @ Jack - got a mate who fishes Steamers and around that area a lot and they got stacks of big Snapper over Xmas.... Not sure what this charter operator is on about, from what I've heard its been one of the best years for Snapper....
  9. You'll be right... Fish still bite on a dodge, they just school up more tightly....If you launch at Wirrina I would head to lady bay... Don't anchor, just drift over all the sand patches down there until you get some fish... Keep on the move unless you are catching fish...
  10. Yep, I have heard late Jan is meant to be the peak. All the big floods though have peaked in September.... so pretty sure it will get higher again later in the year once the winter rains come in and the winter snow starts to melt...
  11. Yep, love the Excellers....Maybe look at a Penn Pinpoint with the Exceller and you will get a bit of change from your $300 and get an awesome combo!!
  12. Sorry, was in a hurry and slipped from the W to the S...Awesome stuff snake... would love one like your avatar on a lure as opposed to the one in mine!!!!
  13. If I get a decent one this summer, I will definitely submit it....Great stuff WS, very generous of you!
  14. A guy on another forum caught a small bronze whaler shark in there only a couple of years ago.
  15. $180 for a Wilson?!?? I only paid $189 for my Snyder Glas..... When I was buying the Wilson's they weren't over $150...
  16. I used to use them, and have plenty of mates who use them and are happy with them, but I will NEVER, EVER get another one.I have had no less than 2 of them snap around the same place in the tip using my ABU 7000 down at Salt Creek. When I got my Penn 9500ss I got talked into buying another one for that, first trip down the Creek, SNAP in the same place near the tip.I am a massive Snyder Glas fan and IMHO they ARE MORE THAN WORTH the extra $50-$80 that you will pay... Cast a lot better and a lot further IMHO.
  17. Looking for an 80cm+ Mulloway on plastic from the CoorongMinimum 20lb Mulloway from the beaches down the south east...
  18. You should catch plenty of ST's doing exactly that...May also with some luck run into School Mulloway, flathead, etc.
  19. I have a copy and its a good watch!Has been out for awhile now, was done by Shane Murton and Steve Wade - came out after their first DVD Steel City Snapper. Was meant to be a third one on Fowlers Bay but I don't think it got to production.Haven't watched it for ages, must get it out again!
