JINKAI AS A LEADER AND FOR SNAPPER RIGS ?
Double Trouble replied to newtontoney's topic in Bait & Tackle
I been using the stuff for years for the reds and the mullies, thats all i use these days -
Done a tuna trip the other month, we caught all the fish on rapala xraps, both the 15ft and 20ft worked, used the pillie and mackeral types.Tried several different skirts over the weekend but they didnt want to play with the skirts.A few weeks later and they were hitting the skirts, just a bit of trial and error and depends how active the fish are.Im still new in the tuna fishing front only done a few trips and have succeeded both trips.

Fins is ok, I use it on my light tackle, used it for the last 12mths, hasnt twisted up yet, caught plenty of fish with it to I dont like braid, Wont be buying it again in a hurry, tangles up way to easy, cuts and burns ya fingers messy crap, Thats my opinionRather just use a good quality old mono line, used it for the last 30yrs so why change something good

Thats normally the senario when ya try to organise a RDO, crap weather, always happens

I normally try the st kilda breakwater on the way out for some ST's or then we try trolling all around the cutting area, depending on the tide height normally catch heaps of ST's in this area, high tide, quite easy to bag out but they are all around the 28cm size, then we venture up to the northern breakwater around O/H, the fish are always around this area normally, Use to catch allot of St's opposite the snowdens boat ramp on the corner where the markets are. Seen quite allot of decent sized ones in the creeks last trip out. Will see how we go tomoro as its been a while now

Cant wait that long, heading out tomoro while everyone else is working , Allot less boats on the water during the mid week.

Both brands are good and have their own pros and cons.My tackle these days is a mix of shimano and ABU's

I pulled a few snapper cutlets out of the freezer to cook up but then when they defrosted i was put off by the smell of snapper, decided i would smoke them instead as i havnt used the smoker for this year.Made up a quick brine solution, approx 3 heaped tablespoons of salt, maybe a tad more, about the same of brown sugar and 500mls water.Brined them overnight although 2-3hrs is plenty.Next day patted them dry with paper towel and into the drying rack for a few more hours.Cooked them for a further 20mins with some redgum chips and they tasted sensational.Nice and juicey and moist, They didnt las
