  1. :c funnyI think at some time as a fisho we have all had a similar experience but you detailed it so well lol
  2. I use a fair few different ones mate but today was the always trusty Bassday sugapen70F
  3. Went for a quick flickfor yfw with surface lures this arvo on the northern flatsWas fairly windy on arrival but decided i was there might as well have a goWaded out and first flick was met with some good follows but no hook up, cast straight back in to the same area and hook up as soon as it hit the water Had 4 just legals 25-26cm in the bag in 10 minutes and thought here we go.The wind had other ideas and picked up quickly  went back in shallower to get away from the wind a bit and found another 5 over the next half hour os so but all under size so back they went.Lost two more that lo
  4. Hey mateGet your self a good diamond stone to make a good edgeI then also use a diamond steel to touch it up and a fine normal steel just to make it a reel fine edgeI lucky enough to still have a my knives and sharpening gear from my days as a chefOther thing you could do which I normally get done approx every 6 months is get a mobile knife sharpener to come a do them for youThere is a few good guys around cant remember the name of the guy I used to use but used to only charge us $6-8 per knife...we did get 3-6 knives each done and there was four of us each time

  8. I thought this was interesting to see the different speciesAlso thought the snapper footage would be a good tease for all with it still being ban timeI wonder if fisheries SA do anything like thishttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2d27m1ECzxA
  9. That's interesting as I hooked up to what I thought was a good salmon a bit further north of thereI have been wondering about the hook up as it was a big take of the top on a popper and peeled line and felt different to what I would expect of a salmonHow shallow are you talking cause this was only waist deep at the most
  10. well done mate looks like a great spotwhich camera do you rate better?
  11. I was speaking to a guy in a local tackle store today and he asked me if I had seen the pic of the shark his mate caught yesterday. When I asked if he meant the one that was obviously caught with a wire trace during banned hours he got caggy and changed the story to friend of a friend.I think this was definitely caught by some one doing the wrong thing in regards to the new laws.Don't get me wrong I think the new rules are :c but they are there and if people keep breaking them and flaunt it it will only make things worse for everyonePictures like that one just give the idiot do gooders more am
  12. I find that a bit shorter leader does help with getting the lure to walk the dog. With have the yfw following but not taking the lure when you see them behind try speeding the lure up a little it seems to make them want to hit it more.My favourite surface lure is the bassday sugapen 70mm in orange have also had good results with Berkley 3b prawn dog
  13. Ive used them successfully with unweighted baits, i can see having them under a float being any different. My thoughts on circles are to have the drag set firm that as the fish takes the bait the drag sets the hook for you.The last time i used them my mate had the same setup but his drag was very loose and he had a good run but the fish dropped the bait before he picked his rod up, i hooked mine 30 seconds later and the fish hooked itself before i picked up my rod due to having a tighter drag.
  14. None metro that I can think ofThere is a hire place at Cowell on the Eyre Pennisula not sure of there rules and pretty sure you need to tow their boats
  15. That would do it mate they are a great reelIve got the 1000 for chasing bream and use a 2506 or 4000 snaps
  16. For me its the normal bread and butter species1.YFW2.KGW3.Flatty4.Garfish5. Gummy shark6.Leatheries7.SnapperWhere to stop i just like fish
  17. I have always used Shimano and love my little Stradic 1000 but recently bought a 2000 Aird to replace an aging reel. Havnt used it yet but had a play and feels really smooth. This will be used from my yak so will soon see how it holds up in the salt as im sure it will end up dunkedWill update once it has been used a couple of times and for the current going price of $$99 you can go wrong
  18. Last time I did it we made a family day of it with the kids, sister, in laws etc.We had a great day on the beach, played some cricket and footy just chilled for the day and came home with bout 1200 cockles by memory. If you plan on going just for cockles not really worth it but make a nice day out with family and the cockles are a bonus
  19. Great pics mate some of those get my arm twitching to flick a lure from the yak
  20. When I get around to it mate might hit you up for advice on what to buy and some tips
  21. Ben these are far too light to throw on spin tackle mate. You might have to get yourself a flyrod Cheers DazzHave considered it a few times might have to find some cash soon to give it a goThe idea of beam and snapper on fly from the yak intrigues me
  22. Very nice DazzCan you use these on normal spin setup and if so would you just flick them like a small sp.Do you sell these mateCheersBen
