  2. G'day Trouthunter,I hot smoke my Trout.I salt my fish inside and out (top & bottom if filleted) leave in the fridge for an hour or two on news paper in a baking tray(catch the fluid) rinse off under the tap pat dry with paper towel, then cover with brown sugar smoke for 20-25 mins and it doesn't normally get a chance to cool as it's get smashed. If there's any left I make up a creamy fettucini pasta with sundried tomatoes and baby spinach . My fav now is Gravlax and Dill Saucehttp://www.azeliaskitchen.net/blog/gravadlax-and-dill-sauce/ Sub the Salmon for Trout pin bone the fillets Takes 4

  8. After waving the long wand around SP fishing is my next fav thing. I've caught everything from Spanish Macks all the way to Tommies on SP's. I felt the same way about fly fishing when I first started then everything fell into place and the rewards become all the more sweeter. Don't give up dude because when you do cach your first fish on SP it'll be like when you caught your first fish as a kid freaking awesome.Cheers 1fish

    cheap leaders

I use Lionel from this site in NZwww.flysite.co.nz/index.paHis leaders are a little more expensive than this site but I can't fault them. His flies are really cheap, I've caught loads of fish on them over here in the ACT/NSW region. I pretty much buy the bulk of my flies from him.3.5 Ib is probably a little lite on for the lakes and larger rivers over this way but looks like just what I need for the lil stream and creek fish.Don't forget you can always start with a heavy leader and tie on an ultra lite tippett if need be.Cheers 1fish
  10. Yo Ranger how goes mate?I like to use a Homer Rhode Knot when using heavy mono. I use it when saltwater flyfishing as well as for soft plastics and hard body its pretty much the only knot I use for attaching all my lures and most flies. The Homer Rhode allows the lure or fly to act more naturally in the water and dosen't inpede on it's action.Having said that I use a Clinced blood knot when using 3 Nymphs on a dropper up in the lakes as the fly will hang in the water better and tying a Homer Rhode small enough would do my eyes in.Hope this helps dude Cheers 1Fish
  11. Depends on what action your trying to impart on the lure and what type of lure your using. Homer Rhodes Knot, Perfection loop, Clinched blood knot.
  12. Let us know how you get on.
  13. You could try the a Mrs Simpson or a Mudeye pattern or both very slow retrive behind a water bubble float. Mudeye patterns tend to work best on dark or in the dark.
  14. Hoolie Doolie Ranger I have smoker envy
