That Tierra would probably suit you best, LXS=
L = Light
X = eXtra Fast action
S = Spin
ie a whippy light tip but more guts near the handle. I've landed 50cm salmon on it but it's light enough in the tip to feel tiny bites.

Mickyj reacted to Kuerschie in 1-3 kilo rod
The rods state 2-6lb rating which converts to roughly 0.9kg-2.7kg. Which will be exactly like a rod that states a 1-3kg rating. Some companies prefer to put their ratings in pounds (lb.) because most commonly, fishing line is rated in pounds (lb.) so it makes it easier for the angler.

Samaki Zing Gen 3 2-6lb 7’0”
Savage Gear Black Savage 1-3kg 6’6”
Daiwa Tierra 702LXS 1.5-3kg 7’0”
Atomic ArrowZ Estuary 2-6lb 7’0”
All of these four rods will suit your style of lure flicking. All graphite, lightweight etc and mid-range price point.

Mickyj got a reaction from HB tragic in Blades
Ok I walked to both BCF and Anaconda. I looked at a savage blade at BCF liked the colour but the weight looked to heavy 6 or 8 grams from memory. Anaconda I looked at strike pro blades then TT blades bought a TT 1/8 looked smaller probably size I was looking for . The ones that were recommended above I’ll still look for those but I’m with out a car hopefully until some time in September .

Mickyj reacted to Kuerschie in Blades
Bream on blades has been a fairly simple technique for me. Similar to how you would fish a soft plastic. Long cast, let it sink to the bottom and pause when it’s there. Pause for a second or 5 depending on the fish activity, and then lift and take up the slack. Let it back down to the bottom and pause again and repeat that until you recast.
I have also done alright with a burn and kill technique where you let it hit the bottom and then wind straight for 3-5 turns of the reel before pausing and letting it back to the bottom. Rinse and repeat etc.
Blades that have done me well are the Pro Lure V35, Savage Gear Minnow Blade 4g and EcoGear ZX35. Majority of the colours I’ve had success in are gold, black and orange. I also put scent on the blades too for added confidence.

Funny this should come up I’ve bought some recently including a upcoming Father’s Day gift of an Adelaide crows fishing shirt . I purchased a Daiwa one from a certain store that gave me $20 off if I spent $50 so I selected that one in grey and a solar tube it was around the $50 mark for the 2 . Getting the $20 discount was hell on earth eventually they gave it to me for the discounted price . Now having time I googled a certain tackle shop on port road they had one up for a price went in there couldn’t find it the one I thought it was . Was marked just under $50 . I asked the person behind the counter and I got sorry no idea what your talking about . Person brought up their website ok we will match that price . Match a price on your website lmao . Anyway this one’s an owner fishing shirt better iirc sun protection. My advice always check prices and make certain you only pay what they advertise products for . Honestly it’s funny to me we give you $20 off but when you redeem it Um no we can’t do it then do it . And a shop advertised prices online then says no we didn’t but we will match our own price lmao

The Columbia shirts are like this. They are also vented at the back to help stay cool.

Mickyj reacted to Meppstas in My 11,000th Tasmanian trout.
Back on the 3rd November 2019 I caught my 10,000th wild Tasmanian trout after we moved to Tasmania back in March 2000, on this trip I caught my 11,000th trout. Here's how the spin session went to get that 11,000th trout & thanks for watching. I often wonder how many trout I would have caught had our trout season not been over nine months. With three months a year missed fishing the rivers for trout adds up to over 5 years of fishing I've lost & over approx 2,500 trout not being caught and released.. food for thought..
cheers Adrian (meppstas)

Mickyj got a reaction from Squid Inc. in Anyone used or know about this lure
Ok a wise fisher I talk to has told me it’s a expensive Japanese lure called Duo . And the Lure actually worked around dawn today Owner hooks are great . Ok only tiny STs but fun

Mickyj reacted to Tinker in Anyone used or know about this lure
It will cast better and increase your catch rate.
It also makes it easier to unhook the fish for a better release.
Been doing it to my freshwater hardbodies and really wish I had started using single hooks years ago.
And you can change them back to trebles quickly and easily if you want.

Mickyj reacted to Kuerschie in Reel sizes
There are 2 current Daiwa LT reels that you can get in a 1000 size. The Daiwa Revros LT and the new 21 Caldia MQ.
-
Mickyj reacted to Soobz in Reel sizes
The sizes are not interchangeable in Australia, a Daiwa 2000 can be close to Shimano 1000. You have to compare capacity and weight, and well, just hold them.
If you want a small Sienna 1000 sized reel look at the Okuma Ceymar C-10, way better than the Sienna in quality terms and possibly a tad smaller, and just as cheap. Meppstas put me on to Okuma, I'd like to try more of their gear but not easy to find locally.
