I had a saratoga boat rod that didnt cost all that much and it never let me down runners ,seat still in good nick after 5 years not like a penn rod i just had fixed never used it and the insert to one runner just fell out .

Right lads i went down to collanades tonight as had to take the ol mum to get some prescrips from the chemist ,so while we were waiting i had a look ,the line is stren magnathin mono in moss green (why they have to give em fancy names i dont know) anyway 5.00 a 300 yd spool ranging in breaking strain from i think about 6 - 30 lb so there is the update.

Hi all well when i was down at boganades the other day i stopped in at big w to have a look for some nucke chicken softies ,anyway while i was there i saw this line called stren microflex and it was only 5,00 something a spool ,i didnt buy any but this was for around 300mtrs of this stuff anyone ever used it dont know how it can be so cheap .

I agree with piranha ,when i was looking at the same thing for throwing soft plastics ,the place i bought my shimano suggested that i buy a 2500 rather than a 1000 same price ,The thinking behind it was what if you want to change from s/p to bait a 1000 is a reel that might have to be used for that purpose only ,i opted for the 2500 sienna 50 bills cant go wrong teamed with my 7 foot shimano telescopic as far as i can tell seems like a good outfit for s/p and bait .

I must agree with boyington and yes i am born of migrants to this country who when arrived saw segregated toilets ,segregated cinemas and a whole host of other rules that have been revoked to try to make an indigenous person equal to us and for the betterment of there people ,these people have perverted the course of justice for there own ends and to abate prosecution by claiming indigenous hunting rights they are laughing all the way out of court "stupid white fellas" .

When there gone there gone mate ,there is a reason why they have a legal limit .Most people would not have been able to afford a high court challenge if it was not payed for by some other person or government department . So now this opens the door to other indigenous persons to take undersized shellfish what will happen when the species is descimated there who will get the blame ?

Hi guys ,thanks for the vote of confidence ale ,its funny you mention the nuclear chicken s/p i actually looked at them this morning in big w as i had read somewhere on this sight they were the gun lure for snapper,Aus i can see the difference in the thickness in the braid and so with that had a look at different thicknesses of some of the mono and braid that i have ,the 50 lb spectra is thinner than the 20 lb trilene i bought , i remember i spooled the abu with 100lb braid and when trolling it looked like a piece of rope coming of the reel but it is actually only 0.10 thicker than the trilee

Hi ale ,not so much plastics but boat and beach as well all my reels in the boat have mono on them and its probably time they were changed especially the skull dragger for squid ,as i said i bought some cheap spectra extreem braid from ebay about 4 or more years ago 50 lb ,this stuff is like thick cotton but never put it onto any of the reels ,probably just a mindset of old school ,but now as i wrote in another post i am changing the way i fish and types of fishing i do ie:soft plastics ,changing the reels in the boat to all spiners ect ,did put some 10 lb braid onto a baitcaster i have but i

The stuff i was looking at was called performance braid by suffix,you right it is not cheap looks like it is from the states but then it is made in china anyway ,i have got a spool of that spectra extreem braid here 50 lb i bought 4 years or more ago ,when i was looking on the net they still sell it exactly the same stuff today and it is till as cheap as .

Hey all pretty quite on the forum so i thought i would ask any one if they know much about suffix braid ,happen to come across it on the net by chance and reading about it seems to be pretty good so anyone used it ?

Well i gave the ol trileen a test today to see if it was that bad ,so what i did was tied it to a pole on my penn powerstick cranked the drag right on and gave it a good bit of stick ,rod was extreamly working and the line was like a guitar string and my arm was shaking with the force on the rod and line ,it didnt snap now if i come across a fish that will put that much hurt on me and my rod and reel if it snaps then in my opinion it had reached its breaking point ,i weigh around 90 kg and was leaning my whole weight on this thing if it had snapped i would have gone :c up across the concrete

Well 6/0 it is then ,will probably get some 4/0 just in case but it seems the concensus is these are the hooks to use circle of course ,lets hope the gods smile favourably on me this year.

I thought berkley was a pretty good brand ,pity as i just spooled one of my reels up with 20lb mono trileen sensation ,just goes to show you cant beleive everything on a packet ,Says its suoer stong ,sensative and has super strength ,oh well never mind .
