  1. I believe the Kingston Surf Fishing Comp starts tomorrow mate.
  2. Buy with extreme caution mate. Some have some form of success but there are quite a few people that have horror stories about the cheaper gear.
  3. You can use international money orders. BUT check with the seller first to see if they are accepted! I've used that method before. Obviously PayPal is ideal for overseas purchases (and it is relatively safe as Ale mentioned) and a lot of overseas sellers will only accept PP. Not trusting PP is a personal opinion of mine due to a bad experience several years ago.
  4. Best not to then Mosler. Stick with the money orders if you aren't too keen on the bank account idea. I have a PayPal account but I hate using it. I have another PP account that is locked and banned because of a rip off merchant on ebay. It pays to be very careful.
  5. No. You can link your bank account to PayPal.
  6. Well, I guess this it is now official: The bloke that caught the Shark supposedly off Somerton has been fined. And it looks like PIRSA are now considering fining the other fellas that were fishing with him.http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/news/south-australia/angler-who-caught-bronze-whaler-at-somerton-park-first-to-be-fined-under-new-state-government-laws/story-e6frea83-1226512197818
  7. Cheers for sharing Jimbo! Love the fight a good Eagly puts up!
  8. Cheers for sharing RN! Killer pics there mate!!
  9. Yorky, they rock!! The one I had did have a better than 80% sucess rate. Not sure what the reason was but the squid loved it.
  10. 65 out of 81 Snapper were undersized measuring below 28cm????? Hardly worth trying to eat at that size let alone the illegal aspect!!It still puzzles me as to why the legal length in Victoria is 28cm. Hope they throw the damned book at these idiots!! It's people like these tossers who, when they get caught, cause the restrictions on those who do the right thing to be tightened. Morons!!!
  11. Thanks eeles. The limits of 5 per person, 15 per boat... Have they done away with the 2 over 60cm and 5 under 60cm per person / max 6 over 60cm per boat and 15 under 60cm boat limit??
  12. Berkley have good Mono. I use 30lb Trilene. Never had a problem with it. Have found that Braid is a pain in the ass in the surf.Don't use PENN gear so can't help with that part. I use Overheads for the surf.As for the rod, I have heard the Sensor Surf is a great rod but my personal preference is Snyder Glas. Only draw back is the Snyder can feel heavy after a while.I am sure that whatever you do chose to go with, you will be fine. Make sure you get a 'feel' for the combo in the shop before you purchase and you should be good to go!
  13. Hey Ross,Have a look at the Daiwa Aird. http://daiwafishing.com.au/?p=8856I've got a 2500 and its a great little reel and retails for just under a hundred bucks. The only other reel I would suggest would be a Shimano Stradic Ci4.http://www.shimanofish.com.au/publish/content/global_fish/en/au/index/products/reels/spinning/Stradic_CI4.htmlI have a 2500 and a 4000 of these reels and they are awesome. Both have pulled Snapper to 10 kilo plus and not missed a beat. These retail anywhere up to $289.
  14. Hey Langley,They look like this:These are 7 gillers. Heaps of em around at the moment.
  15. Just make sure to untick the Join GetUp and CommunityRun.org BEFORE submitting!!!!
  16. Somehow I get the impression that we Reccies are VSF!! (or at least on the road to be). For those who do not know what VSF means, it is a part of a quote taken from the movie Air America.
  17. 7kg or 72 fillets is certainly a huge grey area. 2 fillets = 1 fish (obviously unless your filleter isn't skilled! ) and depending on size could be as little as 40 fillets or less of KGW. If the fish are large, 4 fillets could easily equal a kilogram making the total take around 28 fillets. Doubt anyone will be willing to travel to places like the Eyre Peninsula or even Yorkes for a 2 week trip if all you can take is 28 fillets.Once the government start talking Snapper, Weight limits or Quantity of fillets will be a much bigger issue. Weight v's Quantity is always going to cause problems. Sh
  18. Definately ABU's. 7000 - 10000. Tough as nails, and last forever. I've had mine for almost 20 years and they are still going strong!
  19. Hey All,Article in todays paper regarding Possession Limits. SPecifically mentioned are KGW, Cockles and Razorfish. More to come I would think.http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/news/south-australia/possession-limits-set-for-whiting-goolwa-cockles-and-razorfish/story-e6frea83-1226437894559Cheers,Boyo
