kayakfisher 0
Here's my biggest shark (apart from a doggy). Its an elephant shark from salt creek. the last couple of times we been down there we have been plagued by them.[thumb]http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/jj209/kayakfisher/DSC02899.jpg?t=1239779944[/thumb]

snapperboy 0
Didnt know you could get them here. Thought they were only avail in Vic...... :icon_eek: hmmmmm the things we learn ey.....nice catch though.Sposed to be nice on the chew!
kayakfisher 0
I thought that too but we've eaten 3 and only one turned out to be what I would call nice. Any I catch in the future will be going back. Last year when we went down there we caught one and thought "What the hell is that?" come home and did some research found out what they were. Befor that weekend I thought they were only caught in victoria too but I have heard since that at certain times of the year they turn up in certain places. Just gotta be in the right place at the right time. Think it has to do with spawning?
Ranger 48
Elephants move in along our coastline here for a short time to spawn. Try around July/August, but they're only here in numbers for about a 6 week period.
__matt__ 0
kinda off topic but has anyone ever nailed ellies on lures?? dont look like theyd hit them but ive had one chase down a metal slice for salmon before, so im thinking it would be worth a shot.could be reall fun on bream gear. anyone had success?
Guest AC Hardfronts
I have tried throwing soft plastics off the beach for them.. but had no luck.. but i get bored pretty quickly with lures.. not long til they will start showing up local..
kayakfisher 0
Funny you should mention lures because most of the elly's we've caught Down there over the last couple of years were on surf poppers.
Lofty 27
Down the south east here ellies are a pretty common catch during Autum. A lot get caught up the surf beaches like 28 mile crossing etc. and they are caught from a lot of the jetties like South end, beachport.
