batesmotel 5
I've been having a lot of success catching tommy's on hard body's in the port of late. Does anyone else target them with hards? Apart from plastics the only way I have got them before is with gents. It was a blast getting them on a popper as well.
wishing2Bfishing 0
u sure they aren't Salmon Trout? hard to see from the photo but they dont appear to have the black tips on the tails that Tommies have and very yellow fins?

You wouldn't be the first or last to make the mistake tho mateBut you do catch tommies on hard body's, plastics n metals.. I was salmon fishin Sunday and got a nice 1 on a 60g slug, to bad the seagull found it seen him flyin off with it Pauly
Ugly4Life 41
The first fish I ever caught on a lure was a tommy, on one of the little green and blue laser lures.
ashleycraig80 0
Easily confused there mate, They do look similar, just be careful you dont keep any less then the 21cm size limit. IMO you probably should keep Tommies less than that anyway, no point, no meat and if you are using them as squid bait they are also too small.Good catch though
trihull 177
Easiest way to tell, is the Tommy (Rough) has rough scales and black tips to tail fins, and ST's are smooth scales, and a lot more yellow...

When you butterfly tommies you get no bones so with 5 or so on a plate is a decent feedPlus they are a gun bait for more than just squid

pikk0n 2
Just want to be careful with what you post here on the website especially if you make a mistake like that. Ignorance isn't a good defence if caught and you really don't want to advertise this any further. My advice is if you made a mistake like this, to learn from it and don't post it on the web. Anyone can see what you post on the web.
newtontoney 57
i wouldnt admit that either....lets hope more people respect the water and learn more about catch limits/sizes.
