  1. I can tell you now that they are not rubbish at all. I have two of the 12' rods in the same range that UHF has linked to in his post. Beautiful rods to use & at a fantastic price, perfect if your not wanting to spend a bucket load but wanting a Saltiga. I know the boat rods are also very good value for money & did notice some people in Australia purchasing from the u.s & selling them on at our Saltiga range prices.
  2. Is October generally good too for chasing the Kings in Coffins or is November more so the go? Any ideas on general areas that may increase my chances of hookup would be great too as I have never fished there. Is the Ledge everyone talks about the one that divides Coffins from Kellidie Bay, if so do you fish the Kellidie Bay side?
  3. Why is that cause 20kg's of drag & carbontex washers not up to the task or that you have read somewhere on the net of people having problems with them? At the end of the day chances of hooking multiple Kings over 4 or 5 days at PA is highly unlikely anyway. Some well known charters over WA carry outfits that comprise of 18000F Saragosa's, that are used to catch multiple big Sambos on a regular basis. By the way not having a go at you Shark_Fisho just trying to help cooki with some suggestions that fall within his budget & get the job done.
  4. Will be fine mate, I have the 12ft version of the 20-40lb & the 15-30lb rod. They only have 5 guides on each. Caught a big eagle ray on the 20-40lb & it pulled it in without any worries at all. Really nice rods, effortlessly cast big baits out with too. For the money don't think you can go wrong.
  5. What day approx. is it meant to be out this week? Hanging for a new read after finishing the last issue in about a week! Have to agree with Nanman, cover looks killer!:woohoo:
  6. I have a Aqua One 250 battery air pump, was around $15. They are a reasonable brand & has worked well so far with a good 150L/H single output, which is what you want to be considering too. Used to work in a place that sold there brand of water pumps & they where fine also.
  7. Had been invited to tow the boat down too Marion Bay to chase some Tuna around the Althorpes but considering we would have been only able to most probably get out for one day (today) was not really worth it. Went out locally for a fish yesterday & that was kind of like fishing on a long weekend anyway.
  8. Geez if I was not watching the video I would have assumed he was doing something else there for the first 2 minutes.

  10. Yeah don't normally tamper with my face in pics. but this photo was just a touch average. Fishie, have you tried the Black Magic 'Tough' trace? More harder wearing than the 'Supple'. I personally have always used BM 60lb Fluro for hooks & 80lb tough for the rest of the rig & a 60lb wind on with 20 or 30lb braid. But recently switched down to a 30lb wind on & have not had any problems fishing open ground or near structure (until 2 weeks ago:lol: ). Was on to a killer local snapper session & this fish was a machine, we already had our bag of bigs with two already over 100cm. The
  11. Not my PB (that got released to fight another day:) ) but my first ever 1m fish & biggest knobber to date. Was a very special moment that day as it was the first legal Snapper to hit the deck of our new boat only after having it for a month. Pity my oldman did not land his as I would say it would have been in the knobber region too. His fish unfortunately hit his bait as he was untangling a birds nest on his reel.:pinch:
  12. Only bait I ever used to use while fishing for them in one of the Victor rivers when I lived down that way. Rigged the same way as Ranger mentions & yes not as many bites but all would be monsters. Never thought to take any pics. or measurements of the fish back then either as I did not really consider it much.
  13. Get yourself a large environet mate, much kinder to the fish if you intend on releasing. You can lip gaff but I think the less holes in the thing the better chance it has of surviving.
  14. Neil is using a Daiwa TD-S Surf Rod in that Yalata video FushLups, I would be saying the 12ft 20-40lb H model. Not sure if they are still available in Australia but can be obtained from the u.s.BTW - There is no sensor surf reel.
  15. Great to see that you have had positive success with the Berkley 6" grubs UHF. Bought a packet of each available colour last week for something different to try on the Snapps, will give them a go next time we head out locally & see what happens.
  16. Anyone know who stocks the thigh waders, have been searching all over Adelaide for a pair & everyone all seems to have the chest type & that is it. Want a store that has a bit of a range as I have no idea what size I need.BTW - Will be using them on the beach & not in a boat, why you would want/need to do that puzzles me & is surely asking for trouble. Have come close to slipping over the side of the boat a couple of times now & could not imagine the fun of trying to get out of the water with waders on!
  17. Have to agree with southie, bought some of the Rovex stuff while on special a while back & great product for the price, has not lost any of its colour, shown signs of wear & knots really well.
  18. Another option to check out & consider would be the Fin-Nor Spin Reels, anything from the 7500, 8500 & 9500 sizes will accommodate 300+m of 30lb mono. Should be able to get one for not much more than a Spinfisher too.
  19. At the moment I have them spooled with about 330m of 30lb mono. but have two spare spools that I will be filling with 50lb braid for back up. Like to stick with mono. in the surf, at night & especially when it comes to tangles with weed e.t.c. but since there is not a decent thin dia. 50lb mono. that is easily available braid it will have to be for some of the time.
  20. My old surf outfit was 12ft Wilson MT8144 with a Penn 950ssm running 30lb mono. for me it was way to heavy to use & I hate sand spikes on rods. Other rod was 10ft Ugly stick gold & some Shakespeare reel, sold both of these off. These days have two Saltiga Surf 6000's which I initially had one on a 15-30lb & the other on a 20-40lb 12ft Saltiga Surf rods from the u.s, similar to the Ballistics but cheaper. Great rods which I still have & will continue to use when the need arises but I have since upgraded to two Ballistic Surf rods, one 17-40lb & the other 20-50lb from the u.s.
  21. Sorry meant Lady Bay, was still thinking about Cowell! Will email you the mark for the Banks. Fishie I am surprised to hear, don't reckon we have ever been down that way & not caught a few. But I suppose the fishing in most areas has not been the norm so far this season.
  22. Always good size snook on the banks which is on the way to Lucky Bay, troll some lures over the general area. Not hard to find, usually some boats on it & not far from shore. Caught a number close in the shallows in front of the pines too but found they are not as big as the banks ones. Pick up the odd couta out there too. Have done o.k on a dodge there, caught 20 KG's drifting & a few squid.
