ausea reacted to Alexsfishin1 in Salmon school in West Lakes
So yesterday I headed off to West Lakes to see what was happening. A massive school of salmon schooled up near the steps and there was a dude who caught one every cast! Sadly I didn't bring a rod but, he had 2 rods but there was too much happening to use both so he let me use the other rod! He was a great bloke. After the school had moved on, I had landed 3 decent 35cm+ salmon! He had at least 20 so he gave some away. He gave use 3 more so we had a nice bag of 6 salmon. I really thank him a lot because if he wasn't there, we wouldn't get a nice feed. Cheers to him!

ausea got a reaction from King prawn in Help needed on my first mully
Doesn't matter so much to where you move around as fish are always on the move too. What you need to do is spend lots of time soaking baits. The guys that do have the time will spend 3-4 days a week and 2-3 hours each day trying to catch fish, while the guys that spend 2 hours a fortnight come home more likely unsuccessful.many belong to this club.

ausea got a reaction from Mad Jesta in Help: wanting to learn Rod Building
I use to make rods for people for a hobby and some pocket money, with the price of Chinese rods being to cheap as competition it wasn't worth going past being a hobby.Well for me it wasn't.You will need rod building machines which will get to several hundred, unless you make your own lathes. It's so competitive out there right now that snyder rods couldn't operate any more and sold out to wilson.Be interesting to see how long wilson tackle can last.

ausea reacted to Ugly4Life in Shimano Waxwing Lures Info Wanted
That's the smallest size waxwing (the others don't have trebles). I have caught plenty of ST's on them in that colour and have heard of Mulloway and Kingfish being caught on the larger sizes. The action on them is a very strong zig-zag which, in theory, should drive any predator crazy especially if it's moving fast. I have one of each size in that colour, but only really had a chance to try out the small one so far.
