    It's a great show. No pretentious BS, and always a laugh...and a bit of fishing thrown in.

    Had a crack up in Pirie this morning. Only managed a coupla undersized KG's, but did end up with 9 squid.

    Just being on the water did the business anyway. A bit of a feed and some fresh bait was a bonus.

    Poppa when you get to know your smoker you will love it as much as your wife and or friends.

    I have the Hark 2 door and when I got it I used it every day, doing pork, chicken, turkey legs and of course fish.

    The trick I found is the brine. Check online as you brine different and do the "rub" to suit the food you have chosen.

    I use mine at least every week on something as you can not beat than smell and flavour. I do use a fair bit of fresh green rosemary  (got a large bush of it)

    Cheers

    That would be good fun.
    There is a local story from back home of a young boy feeding Salmon guts to the seals off the  boating dock. Apparently, he was teasing one of them, it got pissed off and jumped up, bit his arm and dragged him into the water.
    Swam him to the bottom and let him go. The young boy was wearing a life jacket so he popped up to the surface with a nasty bite to boot. Doesn't sound all that believable but then you see a video like this and it becomes possible:

    terrific thanks, that makes perfect sense.

    I usually have them in an ice slurry which knocks them out, but I'm guessing based on that sometimes I need a bit more ice.

    Thanks for the info, much appreciated.

    Sorry if this is a bit off topic, or has been covered before, but is there any reason crabs will throw their claws when cooking.
    It doesn't seem to happen all the time, and not even all in the same batch.

    I suppose it doesn't really matter, but just wondering if I was doing something wrong maybe ??

    This lot were steamed mate, I put together a smallish 10 crab steamer a couple of weeks ago after suggestions. All good, the first lot 2 weeks back were great, not so this second lot. They seemed to have a reasonable amount of meat, but it was extra soft and watery, thinking maybe they are starting to lose condition down Brighton way. Have been cooking up Crabs since I was a young boy, spent much of my life raking them by the hundreds out of Middle Beach. This is the first time in my life I have rejected eating some crab because of taste, unusual ?...putting it down to poor quality of Crab not so much cooking style.

    Bit embarrassing as we had the new Pommie neighbours over for tea who were dying to try some, I think they enjoyed it, I think they got the better ones { smaller, I put dibs on the two larger ones hehehe }, but I chucked my couple in the bin as they were foul....{ age I think mate  the Crabs age, not mine   }
