The river is currently in flood and the backwashes are filled with water, birdlife and of course some good fishing All in all was a great few days of camping and enjoying life. Took some nice pics while i was there.Hope you enjoy

The salmon trout seem to be getting fatter and fatter at Pt Adelaide! Took the kids out today on the boat from Snowdens (car survived the car park ) A hook up on every cast, odd 1 or 2 were under, otherwise they were 25cm plus. Great fun for the kids, and me, baiting hooks, de-fishing hooks, casting, snags etc... Lol. All worth it!! Plenty of dolphins out and about for the kids to see also. All in all a great day. More stoked about the car not getting broken into more than anything. Lol. Gimbles

I'm in for the second year running. All for a good cause. SA sea fish targets were Gar and KG Whiting last year, I was land based and didn't find either and as I remember the weather was not to flash last year.

Just thought I'd let people know that a bunch of us entered a competition on Facebook to win sponsorship / be a product tester from WildBait - hand made lures.More fishos entered than were expected so a smaller package was organised and given out to more who entered. A few of us from Strike and Hook won.Congratulations to Uhf and Jewie who were 2 of the 3 SA winners, the other being myself. I must have made up a pretty good story to score the lures I can't wait to put the lures to the test, perhaps they will help me land a decent trout to show off in the North Vs South trout thread. Thanks to Peter from WildBait for giving us the opportunity to try out the WildBait lures.WildBait are trying to get their name out and around the place to please visit their website at www.wildbait.com and their Facebook page at www.facebook.com/wildbait

I have had a couple of magic sessions on the jetty at Venus Bay, Trevally, Salmon and XL Tommies, early morning worked best for us. Sat outside the tent in the caravan park one arvo watching a guy in his Tinny landing whiting after whiting not very far out at all. It's a beautiful place.

piratepom reacted to thefunkychicken in After a bit of an absence... three new rods.
Gday.Well it’s been a while since I’ve visited StrikeHook, the last few months have been flat out with work (and a bit of laziness thrown in) which can be both a good and bad thing. I’ve managed to get a line wet a few times but the results have been far from front page news. I have however been able to wrap a couple of threads on a few rods during the occasional late night.I thought I’d better make the Mrs a rod as I was getting a bit of that vibe from her… I wanted something that she will be able to catch Squid, Whiting, Snapper, etc with that will allow a bit of sensitivity but still be strong enough to not break due to accidents or high-sticking. I ended up going for a 6’6” graphite blank rated 12 to 18lb with Pacific Bay guides and a split grip setup for a spin reel. Being for a sheila, I used pink, purple and silver on the thread. I also got her a Baitrunner 2500 with 15lb braid which sits on nicely.I had two mates give me the old “build me a rod will ya mate”… so I did. Both of them are owners of rods built by me, one a spin rod and the other a batcaster. The one who has the spin rod wanted “pretty much the same thing but flasher” so we lifted his budget a little bit and went for a great blank (pretty much as good as they come) and some more than decent guides and reel seat. The other bloke who has the baitcaster wanted “the same thing exactly but set up for a spin rod”, so that’s what he got.St Croix SCV 6’6” 6-12lb 2piece, Pacific Bay reel seat, Fuji Alconite guides. Finished in an Aussie green and gold style of thing – which I don’t much like myself but that’s exactly what he wanted.MHX 6’6” 8-15lb 2piece. I used the same thread I used on his previous rod so he now has a nice matching pair. A Shimano Stradic 2500 (not Ci4) is going on the rod which will match very nicely. The next one in the works is one I’m greedily making for myself: a long and light spin rod to use for Whiting, Squid and Flathead from the beach, rocks or shallows. I should have it finished soon (just in time for bloody summer to be over). Photos of that will come soon - probably about August 2013!Cheers.

hi guys and lady's my son had one of those sprays you spray on soft plastics, well he had it in his tackle box were most people of course keep them, he had aerosol type i have the pump one, went out to his boat and there was hooks on the concrete, all through the boat, looked in the boat and thought what the hell, lid missing of his plano 777 tackle box, thought how could that have broken, as it was in peices every were.started picking up stuff and found the aerosol that had blown up, the day was 30 degrees, can said dont expose over 40 deg, but i can understand in the box lid clear plastic (were he had it) would must have got hot still, and possibly build up over a few days too. 2 days before my missus was sitting on the box fishing in the boat.so anyone who has one in there box just be warned please, flying hooks ect could have ended up in eyes, and if kids close i would hate to think. some takle ended up 15 feet away from boat on the ground.my son said oh well went and got a new plano box, he lost a leg 3 years ago he has more money than me, i said if you dont mind can i have your box, he said yes of course, the plano lids clip on and off, so i emailed plano, and told them exactly what happened, no lies told just plain truth all i wanted was price for a replacement lid, well they emailed me back next day, said send them my address and they will send me a lid for free the same week.that is what i call a great company, how many would do that for anyone, it was not Plano's fault at all just an accident. i am very impressed with the outcome, i will buy Plano again for sure.
