  1. Hey mate, in in the same boat as you, I've got a 24 kg rod ready to be put through its paces . Cheap as Chios, and quality seems ok, stand by relays.

    live bait

All boils down to logistics.... Very good idea though, the live bungums at ray and Anne's sell like hot cakes.
  3. Is that the same batch or a second bag out Milmo?
  4. Sounds like a good beginners combo. Nah, sounds very solid, get that drag zinging bro... Peace
  5. You've always been an Okuma man smokey.... They are a solid reel
  6. In fairness guys, I'm sure you have all f&$ked up just as wildly at some point or another. Just kidding.... hilarious!
  7. Plenty of salmon trout, trumpeters and mullet in the marina.... If you fancy a ray, soak a big, sloppy bait on HEAVY tackle on the seaward side outer wall. Casting into the harbour entrance should put you in the running for a mulloway too.
  8. Nothing beats squid you've caught yourself and snap frozen, still juiced up with ink. Pillies are wolfed down like jelly beans, but even when salted and bound to your hook with black twine they struggle to keep up with the rigours of harsh surf fishing. It's always good to take a lighter outfit and cockles to salt creek, and to try and augment your bait supply with fresh mullet, salmon trout and surf tommies.
  9. They are capable of some bulldozing runs, those bigger blue throats. Quite territorial too. My mate rates them tastier than whiting, the flesh is quite sweet, chunky and firm. Peace out homies.
  10. Interesting thread guys. Personally I don't kill bream or rays, but that's just me... Gummy sharks on the other hand, watch out. It's tough to beat fresh flake steaks in my humble opinion.
  11. About a year ago I picked up the Wilson supergraph- a sleek black rod that is just as comfortable knocking over chunky salmon as it is at throwing heavy star sinkers and slabs of salmon back in to the surf for big jewies. Teemed up with a penn spin fisher it's light, cruisy, and smooth, with grabs of durability and grunt. Only about 260 for the combo too.
  12. i'd almost be so brazen as to lable it as some kind of Gurnard.Peace.
  13. I'd be drifting all pinnacles near Wedge Island
  14. We don't have conclusive kingy proof yet- but it's possible. How thick is the grating at trimmer parade? And who catches a bronzie, walks through the dunes and releases it in the lake? I never quite understood the mentality of people who translocate species. Bit like arsonists I guess.
  15. That sucks dogs balls. But where are you pulling your 95 percent statistic from bro? All it would take is a close eye from fisheries, or surveillance cameras on the jetty and car park, or a legislation introducing a 'blue boy' licence as per the Thai prison system. I reckon that's a pretty pessimistic view of rec fishing in Sa. I feel pretty passionate about this- we all have an obligation to do the right thing, and I now believe fishos have a new enemy- the guilty bystander. I detest violence in any form, however I will own up to disposing two 'gentleman' from the torrents island bridge after
  16. No mate, not as effective as 8. I'm surprised the "Comp" organisers didn't pick you up on it. I normally just enter comps with my recreational long line and a 50 metre net. How did you hear about the comp?
  17. i did notice you name wasn't in the Ashes squad Southie....we need another spinner too....Are you still throwing a few hours at the Compleat Angler, Wallaroo? There would always be the possibility of a sneaky after work fish
  18. A strangely lean list from Southie the banga......Have you been trying to get the snapper monkey off your back big fella?
  19. Not too foul at all.... Bit tough to admit this but I was stretched to my limits by a robust feral goldfish in the river torrent on 1kg 'cobweb' tackle.... At one stage the bug eyed critter had stripped 120 yards of damyl from my spool and had fouled the line amongst the myriad of probes and transducers underneath the keel of 'Popeye 3'. The fish was eventually grassed not too far from the king William street bridge, and later that gay weighed in at 1490 grams (gutted) on the scales of the Grange fish and chip shop.
