Rod got a reaction from Meppstas in From a poor photo to a quality photo...
    G'day Adrian
I enjoy your pics and like taking some myself.  It's a pity photo gallery has been discontinued, such a great program for sorting and basic editing.  A few months ago I did a clean install and with photo gallery not available I looked around at other options but they all seemed to lack the simplicity of sorting, tagging,  rating, face recognition and basic editing.  I ended up finding a non microsoft source for the program and continue on with it for now.   So easy to find pics.  Isn't digital photography amazing, I remember the dark ages when I was paying 18% mortgage interest and taking pictures was a rare extravagance.   Now I click away willy nilly and the only concern is deleting as many as possible so I don't end up with too many
Went to a sony camera training night the other night and the main thing I learned was that now I 'need' a lens that costs more than the camera

I just made up a 7"x 5" gloss photo book that will be heading off the France in a week or so when I receive it..
Snapfish had 50% of including extra pages so I though I'd make one up for a good friend in France who has helped me out for many years with plenty of quality spinners..
here's a few photos sorry about the quality as I took them of my computer screen but it will give you some idea of it.. I'm sure he'll like it.. & yes he knows I use hard body lures too..
In all there 60 pages in the book and it cost me $25-62 (including the postage) to Tassie.. will cost me around $12-$15 to post it to France..
    cheers

I'm sure he'll like the book..  Very reasonable price when discounted doobie..
As for the brochure that was something quite unexpected too, but I'm happy with it too.. I did wonder what was going on when Neil (IFS Fisheries officer & friend) asked me to email him a few photos of rivers and myself fishing in them.. A little payback perhaps for the trout reports and surveys etc I do for them on a regular basis, not that I mind doing them anyway as it gives them an idea of how the rivers are holding up with the trout, water condition etc..
    cheers

Well i made another photo book up a few weeks ago while I was on Snapfish, I quite often go on the site and make a book or a calendar then save it it for a later date when they have a 60% off sale or as this one when they had 50% off & free delivery.. here's a few pic's of my latest book No. 10..

Just re read the OP.  The 8-10 kg version would be fine for most of your target fish but you never know your luck and you will have some extra fun with a tuna over 20kg.  My wife caught a 26kg on an 8-10

So as some of you know I worked at Fishing Wholesalers for the last 2 and a bit years.
However my last day was on Saturday. I know there are alot of members on here that i have put onto this site that i wasn't able to let know of my resignation as it happened so quick.
So i thank you for being great customers to me.
I am no longer in the fishing industry anymore. I might return to it in a few years time if things go right
However you will now find me in the electrical industry as a storeman in town.
Now to enjoy fishing like i use to without the pressures of the industry
Expect more reports me in the near future!
    The bug is back!

    G"day
I like shimano but in recent years have bought a number of these for snapper and tuna.  8-10 kg are good for snapper and 10 - 15kg for tuna.  I fish deep with 8 - 16oz sinkers so go the 850 or 950 reel.   You can select which combo you want and don't be fooled in to thinking they are not good quality because of the price.    Mind you can pay more than that just for the reel elsewhere.
    Cheers

    Hi
I have always been an avid watcher of Big Angry Fish I really like the show, it has given a few ideas which I intend to try this year and see if the same techniques they use will work here in SA.
I have taken the first step in one of those ideas and now have in my possession my versions of Nathan's famous skutes. I did not tie them but I have been bitten by the bug and already have some ideas on my own versions for different species and going to teach myself how to tie them it cant be that hard .
I was fortunate to ask someone I have known for a while and here are what I picked up today
Ive got to say that I am really happy with what he produced I am now dying to get out try........if this #@%^ing wind ever stops long enough to allow me to go where I want to go. I will be making a sacrifice tomorrow on the sabbath to the weather gods

I've had the panasonic 'tough' camera for about 9 years, it's been in pools, snorkelling on the GBR, bouncing around in the boat (at least when I had a mono LOL),  pics taken with fishy hands etc, just wash under a tap and wipe off the lens and good as new.  It's the orange one they used to advertise with a guy skimming it across a raging river.   Pics are pretty good, video also.  But must be lots of options/brands now, be good for a yak I reckon, no fisheye effect like the action cameras, but they have their uses also.  I keep a fopro in the boat to, but must admit most pics get taken on our S5's which are water resistant also

Rod, it is small (10 cms x 5.5 cms) and it's also powerful too and it fits perfectly inside my waterproof chest waders pocket.. I do have a Canon EOS 700D but that is a large & expensive camera,  one I wont take in a river fishing...
    cheers
    Adrian

No I don't go for the  water resistant cameras, actually never really gave that a though either.. I've stuck with the Canon cameras as I've always had a very good untroubled run with them.. You can buy waterproof bags for them which I have for my camera.. I have my camera attached to a lanyard as well..
    cheers

Gee that's a small camera Adrian.
I thought you might have bought a rugged style camera given the hiking and wading you do.  What swung you this way.  I keep a panasonic TS1 on the boat that I've had for years, that does a pretty good job but getting a little old now, but it can be washed which is good.   I recently went the other way and bought a mirror-less camera (A6000) after I wanted to get a large print but the definition good enough.   Now I have to get those great pics again that took me years to get, sighhhh.    I will still use my sony HX30V which is a great point and shoot and fits in a pocket, just.   Here's a pic for others to see how small Adrian's new camera is
    Cheers

April would have to be my favourite time to go there, so you're on the money for some good fishing! Especially on the South Coast. If there are offshore winds, it would be worth having a suss at some of the main beaches down there, might come across a salmon school for endless exhausting fun. Good luck ScaledUp! Really looking forward to the report
P.S. I remember years back, I asked the same questions on this forum.. If it weren't for the help of fellow S&H'ers my trips wouldn't have been as eventful as they were! Great people make a great forum..

Prime season for the mullet run. Salmon should be back too.
Defiantly be beach fishing Emu for mullet and have a go for a  toothie of a night, depending on tides.
Much of Flinder's Chase is inaccessible for fishing. Sandy Beach (walk in) and West Bay are excellent surf beaches for salmon.
    Hanson & Vivonne Bays . D'estrees Bay - Wreckers & Wheaton's beaches, a few of my faves.
I'm unfamiliar with Peneshaw thru to Emu, mainly focused on Sth Coast salmon fishing.
NFI re boating or charters. Would again depend on what you wanted to target: gar, kgw, snaps....nannies, kingies, tuna. Tuna will likely still be around and are not far offshore for the charter operators.
KI looks small but there are a lot of kms between drinks. Focusing on a couple of things is not a bad idea unless general 'exploring'. Also it's not called 'kangaroo' island for nothing. There are plagues of 'roos & wallabies, i couldn't recommend driving of a night!

For land-based, this guide put together by Shane Mensforth has some options (as well as boat):

The Goshawk was some 60 feet away from where I was standing in the river.. even though it's white it's called Grey..

Had a lot of fun with one of them the other day. Couldn't believe my luck that the board decided to give me 200 powerball tickets for only 45 euros. Couldnt convert it to South Australian Murray's though, our republican currency, so I ended up missing out.
