  2. probably be able to use a large cylum stick with a sinker attached to something like a hand line over the side of the jetty or boat probably do the same thing

  5. i have not seen a squid glow in the dark but when i was posted to far north queensland in the army we would see the fireflys in the jungle at night time ,like floating flashing lights we also used to catch horse flies and stick a blade of pampas grass up there claka and let em go that was something to fill in the time for a laugh

    Hi dan yea thats the ones i was talking about as fridge/kingsley said ok for property owners i mean there his yabbies but no good for the crabs here ,when i was in north queensland we used to fish for muddies in similar nets that we use all very fine until they drop into the boat :woohoo: then its all onto the seats ,i still remember that idiot tv presenter when he went to airlie beach mud crab festival and he was banging on about there claws how powerful they were in front of the camers ,the inevitable happened it grabbed his finger they had to break of the claw and even then it dont come of

Last time i went down was about 2 years ago took the ex and step daughter and had a great day with a bbq after at pt elliot my biggest problem was the next day i got burnt to buggery on the face and arms (short sleeve steamer ) remember the sunscreen ,it was my first time at cockling and i thought it was a great day out for the family had the ex do all the measuring hahahaha i just did the finding for anyone with children i would reccomend it money aint everything and they will remember it and probably bug you to go again crispy

    theres also the other ones kingsley that sort of stand up with supports around the outer edges but you are right about the type and also the float and tag if left unattended crispy
  12. hi all with the shape of my berly pot i used to use old small flower pots i would line them with a freezer bags to stop them sticking to the sides freeze them up in shape turf them out and start again crispy

Hi tony i beleive there was some talk about turning it into a marina area as well ,it would certainly be a great recreational assett to this part of the south and along with that comes also the comercial assets as well ,not just for people like us but also marine bioligists to study marin life in the area and also the diving fraternty as long as they dont try to put to many restrictions on fishing accesss ,being a deep water harbour has probably got viabilty for ferry services and who knows what other diverse industries , the local council will not do anything with it unless they can get suppo

This is truley a brilliant way to fillet gar or for that matter any fish ,i used it last season but just when i was getting half reasonable at it the gar went into micro size so this year imma gonna be huntin me some gar ,and with crispys famous gar light i hope to be getting a bag load coz i luv em crispy

Hey jack ,dont worry mate youll get back into it when the sun comes back out you and the warig will be hoonin along ,i remember a long time ago when i lived at glenelg i used to go down the jetty after dinner and cast a line ,i wasnt to bad then either always came home with a feed anyway one night i went down there and setup started catching a few ,i notice thes blokes seem to be getting closer ,keep catching mainly tommies and maybe a sand whiting or two the next thing i know i am surrounded guys casting over the top of me trying to get a fish until the inevitabel happens ohhh gee sorry mate

Good post jack ,well my year has ben pretty crappy ,small catches if any at all ,must admit i dont go hell for leather in the trying dept just enjoy getting out in the terror, still doing things to it fitted more leds for my anticipated night assault on the snapper this year and also for the garfish ,havent fished at night before from a boat so will be a bit uneasy when i do go out ,still have heard about a place past brighton at night in the summer where the snapps come on just after dark so will give it a go ,just hope no men in grey suits come around bad enough during the day let alone at n

Hi all me mum went on one of those oldies boat trips not so long ago and showed me some photos of all of them down there ,apparently it started with only one seal when they were doing some work on the barrages then h told his mates and they told theres and here is what we have now ,if the mouth was a bit deeper maybe a great white could get in that would sort em out easy pickins must say there is a lot down therecrispy

Thanks for the info lofty thats a great deal of info ,i have thought at times about trying for these critters down the bottom of yorkes no areas that i see semi pros work wel at least they did a few years back anyway ,i rekon just about anyware along the bottom of yorkes would work as it is all rocky reefy bottom some more prominant reefs than others ,used to watch a guy who lived in &^&^&^% when i used to camp down there he would go out every 2 days and pull his pots always got some goodns ,one night i nealy called the cops he went out in a stiff wind and it got bad while he was o
