  1. Sad.Battery life is dismal' date=' I get around an hour out of the standard battery. From the moment you turn it on the Wifi is chewing the battery so quick its almost disgusting they let it out of the factory like this. I have now bought 2 spare batteries with a charger so I have them ready to go. The Battery BackPack only gives around an extra 30-45mins as well.If filming on 1080 at 46 frames a second I fill a 16gig Micro card on one battery or close to it.[/quote']Rollas, not sure if this would help but perhaps have a look at turning off Protune mode, it may give you a little longer battery as it will run at a slower bit rate, you will sacrifice some quality though. not sure what the standard bit rate runs at can't find it anywhere but the Hero 2 runs at about 15mbps. Don't know if this would help but worth giving a go.You can also change your frame rate between 60, 50, 48, 30, 25, 24 fps less frames per second would equal less power consumption perhaps, you only really need higher frame rates if you're going to use the footage for slow motion effects or if you're recording fast moving objects and can edit the footage interpolating the footage smoothing it out.Keen to try this out and see if the battery lasts longer or not.Can you turn off the wifi when it's not getting used? Would be good if you could.

  3. Could've thrown some softies or lures at the st's?

Yeah did try a couple of softies but they weren't interested, the mullet chased them all over the place but it seemed by the time I was flicking sp's the larger mullet disappeared and the st's seemed to shy away as soon as the mullet started chasing them. Was pretty cool down there today though, the water was crystal clear I went out knee deep and could see hundreds of fish they weren't shy of me walking around either. On another note, I had a pretty decent Mully run tonight on one of my livies but it spat the bait :( then decided to rub it in my face by splashing out of the water :S
  4. I heard via Facebook that there were heaps of mullet around the Southport walking bridge yesterday so decided to head down there this morning on a livie mission. Managed about five which should do the job, thousands of pickers down there it was crazy! Threw back so many undersized mullet and st's also saw a bunch of decent sized st's that just wouldn't take my bait as it was decimated every cast by the pickers :( There are Whiting hanging around too, have to give them a go soon I reckon.I'm off soon to put my livies to use, fingers crossed I have a report to write up later ;)

  5. I'm no expert on the topic by any means but this works for me with gents. With gents I usually put on about 6 to a size 8 long shank hook when targeting mullet, salmon trout and tommies. Quite often I'll have a size 4 long shank rigged and can't be bothered setting up a smaller rig that usually works fine too, I've caught quite a few bream with that setup and bait.Go as light as you can with tackle, rod n reel, float works well with the above, think I snatched a few whiting on that kinda rig too but bungum worms with no float seems to do well whiting in the Onk, I don't recall but think whiting eat from the bottom, giving the bait a little movement every now and then will help. The other guys on here will be able to help out with more specifics about rods, reels and tackle.1 last thing if you're targeting mullet, chuck out a handful of bread in small pieces and you'll see what happens ;) the mullet go nuts then just chuck your bait in their path.

  6. Someone here might have a connection ;)How many people do ya reckon might be interested in getting a calendar? Add a thankyou to this post so we can get a bit of a gauge of interest.I'll have a look at one of my printers and see how the pricing looks for certain quantities. Is a great idea too Bass13 B) I've been hanging back just to see what other people thought before getting into it.

  7. Being southern I've bought a combo from BCF when I started out, was ok, at the time I should have just gone to Angler's Choice. I haven't bought all that much gear lately but when I do I drop in to see Mark at Fishing Wholesalers and have a chat if they're closed and I'm desperate for bait I'll head to Angler's on the way to a local fishing spot.I bought a recommended rod from Ray and Anne's last year I think it was, great rod (Gary Howard Viper). I called about it first they didn't know anything about this rod, I had to call someone back, they were never there, eventually after many phone calls and being told that there was only 1 in stock and that they'd hold it for me for half a day I went to pick it up and found about 4 on the racks without one being held for me :laugh: Nice one!Won't be going back there in a hurry.

  8. I've been using Berkley Vanish Fluorocarbon and it seems to work pretty well so can't hurt. This being said Shanomac cleaned up yesterday using red mono and showed me another line he used which was thick as cable (mono) haha He's a bit of a squid guru though I think.Might depend how picky they are in a certain area as Grazz suggested and how hungry.

  12. As a protest we should all refuse to pay boat registrations and boat ramp fees until this move is rescinded not sure how you could go about it but we need to make a stand some how

My dad was telling me about a protest he was in before my time when the government put up the motorcycle license cost. Not sure exactly how it went but they didn't pay their rego until one day where everyone paid their rego causing so much of an issue at the registrar that the government listened.
