statesquider got a reaction from negruky in Rod and braid to suit stradic ci4 4000
I have the exact reel paired with that exact tcurve. Great combo but i'm going to find myself a 6'6" tcurve for it instead as i prefer two piece rods. (spooled with 20lb daiwa tournament)You'd be surprised how much stick you can give a fish with these :)Last time i was out in my mates boat I managed to lift a ray off the bottom and I pushed the rod WAY beyond what I normally would do. Had the 20lb locked up and popped off the 40lb leader. Can't believe the rod didn't snap The combo works well and have knocked over many large snaps with ease. Best i've managed on it was 13.2kg and there was still heaps left in the combo, at no point did I feel like I was in trouble. I'd never go heavier than that ever to chase snapsGive it a look and have a feel in the shop

Very good advice :)Also wearing clothing that is easy to remove if you do fall in is smart. I never fish a spot if I haven't already worked out how i'd get out. Also swimming away from the rocks is ideal if you go in as the hazard of being smashed against them is eliminated. No fish is worth dying for

very unfortunate indeed... all it takes is one wrong move and it could all be over... ive seen and witnessed it first hand what fishing from rocks can do.. always stay alert, carry light and dont travel alone...also if fishing from the stones.. always have an emergancy way to get back to shore. scout around for the best possible route if possible if you do happen to go in.. just be wary of conditions and dont think the rocks are all fixed in place...

I've got a ci4 4000 on my 10ft seajigger. Great combo for salmon!Any 4000 would be the go I reckon. I personally like the ci4 but the normal stradics are nice and then the sustain is also in your budget. Spooled up with a decent 20lb braid and you'll fit almost 300m on thereCan't comment on daiwa as i don't really use them

I thought i'd throw this up here as more of you guys will see it but this link is to one of four short videos explaining tournament fishing as a non-boater. If you click the link to youtube you'll find the others (Labelled 1-4 I believe). It explains everything quite well if you are at all interested in fishing competitively in the future.
someone finds these clips useful :)Cheers

statesquider reacted to Ranger in Marinas,. Private Property or not ?
Out of bounds areas are explained to all competitors as part of the briefing prior to Bream tournaments. I recall an official representative from Marine & Harbours being the one to first to explain in depth how/why the law works' date=' as part of his presentation to us. There is no problem with it, regardless of how you see it or how it might seem to you. It's the way the law works, and even in the scenario you described, the landowner DOES also own the water, as the water is now sitting in the area which was formerly covered in land, which he has previously dug away and flooded at his own expense to create the marina....far different to a natural stream between two adjoining properties.ie: a)Take away the land and you now own a hole. If your hole fills with water, you also own the water sitting in the hole. Build out onto the waterway, and you own what you have built. The water is not yours though, as it was there before you started building.Local exceptions to the rule are:a) submarine base-which has an adjacent exclusion zone for reasons of security. fuel wharf-which has an adjacent exclusion zone when a ship is docked for reasons of safetyRemember, when it comes to the law it's our responsibility to know this, and ignorance of the law is no excuse. So as harsh at it may sound with the owner telling you to move along, he's actually doing you a favour. Instead all he need do is photograph you, and you could be charged with tresspass instead.

Gday lads,It has been a while since I last saw a thread with redfin/trout lures and I was wondering what all you lads are throwing into snags these days ;)I've recently overhauled my collection I drag around with me and have condensed it down to the proven lures but still leaving myself a decent variety. It all now fits into one very compact box that isn't too overloaded  Feel free to contribute lads

Hey Cal, the xraps are bloody amazing! I never cast too far but with a few quick rips you can get it under maybe a bit over a foot. They have a really nice wiggle and are a top lure for trout. I'm always a bit hesitant to use them as they aren't cheap and I fish some very snaggy territory. Haha one of them I had to bush bash and climb a tree out over the water to retrieve Every freshwater fisherman should have at least one though! Those frogs look the goods, I wonder what the action is like as you work them....
