Bored in lockdown, so some brag posts showing me lurid lures (tm) landed fish.

This is a nice vibe, I don't know if or what it's a ripoff of, but casts very well and vibrates really nice. Shit in weed though as the nose rakes it up. The pished pilly colour was lost to rocks.

A bit less vibration on this guy, more suited to deeper water than the surf I think where you can teabag a bit and really work it.
Was really interesting that the fly rod laded bigger fish easier because the entire length of the rod is taking load compared to the top half of the spin rod, which was a 6-12kg medium heavy action.
Green lure is 88mm, blue is 72mm if you're trying to work out the salmon size. I didn't measure a single fish with was a tad stupid

Cracking fish! would have been a ball on the fly gear!

Not a bad idea but by the time i stuffed around getting that tool ready i would have tied the FG by hand.

The Fonz got nothing on me. On fly. One of many, but probably the biggest. Amazing fun.

I tried Rui, no more resilient than the $5 jobbies, after 1 session the cloth needed to be glued back on. At $13 for Daiwa Emeraldas or Rui I reckon Rui aint in the running for my $. Bought the last lot of jigs from tackledirect168 on evilbay, very cheap at $3, and seem decently made compare to 'Neptune Tackle" crappies, but we'll see how well they last/perform.
Recently out squidding had a lady in white bikini on a yak circling around me, I know I am pretty irresistible but she proceeded to tell me she'd lost her new (expensive I assume) squid jig and she was not stalking me :), she paddled off and no joke as soon as she was out of yelling range (I tested this) I found her jig. Sadly I could not snag it and lost sight of it as soon as I got turned by the breeze. If I'd had my white bikini on I could have dived in after it.

Yes, I've got a couple. I mainly use the Mick's Jiggers, which are from a local guy who gets them through Rui). The pink, yellow and KGW ones are amazing. I still have a couple of yellow yamashita's but have moved away from the more expensive yozuri's - which I used to use exclusively.
Rui is a great guy and stands by his products. They do work and they last as well

This was a day (19th March 2021) when I was lucky enough to be in the Mersey River when there was a massive Mayfly hatch, the trout were having a great time sipping them off the surface. This was the best hatch I've seen on this river since 2009 when I was lucky enough to see a monster Dun hatch in the stretch of river..(see photo)
The trout fishing was tough going due them feeding on the Mayflys.. Actually seeing what I did was the highlight of the day for sure, the trout I caught were a bonus..

Got some vibes ready for the salmon if the flys don't get out far enough. 28g. painted with colourshift. Regret the black splatters, done to break it up and look a tad more real, but should have done in sepia so not so contrasty.

I don't mind the rain either, it's the wind that messes everything up - hate the wind, wish that guy upstairs could cancel it out  
From the Southport surfcam - 1 hour before the 9.30am (.99m) low tide.  High tide at 4.04pm today at 2.41m.
Normally you would see a lot of the river bank at low tide, so the water isn't being allowed to drain due to the seas pushing it back in lol
Currently the NW wind is blowing at about 32kph/17 knots (fresh) to the predicted 55kph/30 knots (gale) - weather forecasters 

Hopefully it doesn't wash all the Micky's ST's out of the Pat and into the streets

I've put a couple of size 1 anti-kinks and a few small spiral swivels & snaps in a envelope for you which I'll drop in the post tomorrow Steve..

Yes, very lucky having so many rivers/streams to choose from down here Steve, this little tannin stream is on private property & I'm lucky enough to have around 3-4 kms of it all to myself thanks to a very kind landowner. Blade spinners can create line twist quite easily on most brands of mono lines, some worse than others, even more so with fine line., As you know I use a ultra fine 4 lb Ultra High Tenacity clear mono with a 6 lb leader with the anti-kink and I never have any problems with line twist.. I picked the anti-kinks up from local tackle stores here in Devonport. The ones I have the smallest available (size 12) a made by Wigston & Wilson Tackle.  A friend of mine used braid when spin fishing and had quite a lot of line twist twist, he was told by the supplier that braid was fine for hard body & soft plastics but not suited to use with metal blade spinners. I don't know as I've never used braid at all. This season I'm trying a couple of new ideas with use of a very small #0 roller bearing swivel to see how it goes without a anti-kink. Are you still at the same address at One Tree Hill, if you can't get hold of them let me know and I post a few to you..
