Still trying for that first big shark myself. Land based Snapper, Kingfish, Blue Groper, and Nanygai are my rock fishing targets

Never tried fishing bait for them, but have caught my share metro and at Moonta fishing 3" blue or white flick baits on a 1/8 jig head. Still find them a super frustrating fish to target, and as mentioned, fish 10-20lb leader and rod way enough backbone to lift them onto the jetty

I like the sunline siglon personally. I was using Berkeley vanish but it created issues with the knots catching in the micro guides on my rod (4 and 6lb) Switched to the sunline stuff after being recommended by a friend and haven't had the same issues since. I've also used Black magic (both the supple and abrasion resistant one) in 20lb and up, and Jinkai 20lb, and they have also been more than acceptable for my needs

Is that giant rooster popper still hanging from the power lines at bower road, always makes me chuckle when I see that

I also get this same reaction, not so much inflammation, but definitely the dry and flaky skin....Ive just dealt with it up until this point, but good to know there are some possible preventative measures that can be taken!

Did catch one once from sturt reserve at Murray Bridge on tiger worms......Only one I've ever got from the Murray. Adelaide Hills would definitely be a better percentage option for Redfin, all the main rivers and creeks that have water all year round hold reddies. Most dams have redfin aswell if you have access

I've always gone the other way personally, in through the flesh and out through the skin.....as with everyone else, no real reason, just feels more comfortable for me doing it that way

I used the Savage Gear roadrunner in 3-6kg (maybe 3-5) before I managed to snap it (through my own fault) I used it mainly for squidding and snooking with a 2500 reel on it and it performed pretty well. Didn't particularly like the guides, but the cork grips and overall design and feel were nice Balanced up well enough with a little 1000 size spin reel for freshwater fishing aswell

Sunline Super PE is my braid of choice, have it in both 6lb on my spin gear and 30lb on my Cod setup. Feels amazing, is super thin (relative to others I've used) and casts great (although have had issues when using leader line like vanish.....no issues with Sunline FC leader though) Also like Fins windtamer (although I hate other fins braid) and Bite Motion braid

Further to this, drove over the south para about an hour ago, and she's barren, could barely see water from the road, and the old bridge is high and dry haha

South Para fishes great when the waters down.......if you can walk over the old bridge under the current road bridge, then the big reddies will be out to play At least thats the rumour I've heard

My personal experience is that cheap spinners are a waste of money. Haven't bought ebay ones myself, but have had experience with cheap ones from stores and they are rubbish.

I would second that, plenty of BIG blueys in there, but definitely would not eat them

BCF Gepps Cross, Sports Fishing Scene and Ray and Annes are my normal haunts when in that general area.......I find it hard to get everything I want from the one store though, as they all have slightly different ranges/pricing.

Have seen fisheries at semaphore jetty a couple of times, fishwatch at garden island and snowdens beach......I guess they go with the percentages of where most offences turn up

Only issue I can see with a company that does their descriptions like that is that could lead to a massive variation in condition of the reel under the one description "No one would mistake for new". Seems like they use that description so you won't be disappointed, rather than as an accurate description of the reel.......one reel will be like brand new, and the next will be hammered. Damn good prices though, and I guess if you are buying with the expectation of a well used reel, you would rarely feel screwed over.

I'll put in my recommendation for the NS One's rods. I use mine for Trout and Redfin mainly, but it has claimed its share of Bream, Salmon and some school mulloway aswell! The 702L model is 2-4kg, 7 foot, 2 piece, balances nicely with a 1000 size reel, and works both Plastics and Hardbodies well! (Looks stunning aswell, but I'm a sucker for cork)

Great report and cracking photos Doobie. Gotta get down south and try some of those beaches myself at some point!
