Dry ice works well if you look after it properly.just speak to your local supplier and they will give you ideas on how to make it last, saying that my tropical ice box normally does a few days in full sun on the deck of the boat, i just keep towel on top that i hit with the deck was from time to time to keep it wet,

Hey Tommy2Toes, I am currently using a Sustain 4000FG at the moment for my Snapper fishing with 20lb Schneider on it and love it! It is one sick weapon!I uprgraded from the Stradic CI4 last year, and to tell you the truth both are fantastic reels. The Sustain is very very nice and is definately and upgrade though. It just feels smoother and for some reason more solid.I cant fault mine at all and I reckon they look sick.Heres a pic for you. Its matched to a T-Curve 701 Snapper 5-8KG

Wondering if anyone out there has one of the new Shimano Sustain FG, looking at one in a 4000 coupled to a t-curve 5-10kg size set up for heavy reds outfit .

I've got the sustain 2500 fg. Bloody nice reel to use! I love my ci4's but this reel blows them away in smoothness of both general turning of the handle and drag. A great reel

was using a mates Stradic fj 4000 and is felt a awesome reel, it mauled a 10kg shoals red up with ease. But the Sustain FG looks like a awesome reel, which is not too over priced as-well for what it is. Hopefully should be ready to go when the big reds rock up in late October!

Friends of mine just baught in a 29 ft sea swirl striper Pilot house from the states they welded up a cradle for it carpeted the cradle (just like a trailer with sides) and shrink wrapped the boat, the twin 225 didnt even have 100 hours on them

Alan Tani rekons an upgrade can get 25lb drag, but the main gear might not handle it.http://alantani.com/index.php?topic=9.0

Possibly another thing to add here, is why contemplate going solo at night unless you really have no other option? In all my years of boating and solo trips, I have never been out alone at night, and it's nice to know that you have a second pair of eyes and someone else to rely on just in case anything did happen to go wrong at night.

having the ability to have the work area to be well lit is also helpful certain situations and also for safety getting bug hooks stuck in a hand or foot cause of trying to work in the dark is the quickest way to turn it into a bad night! And its always the way be careful of other boats some fisho's leave their lights off to protect spots so always give caution and travel at lower speeds to normal even is the water conditions are good!

Can't go past the saltiga surf, excellent reel. I use it down salt creek, fwc, YP beaches. It's caught some big mullies, sharks and rays on it. Casts a mile matched to the ballistic or sensor. It holds around 600 of 50. Best out of the reels you have mentioned

Step 1...Go to the newsagent at West lakes mallStep 2... Purchase a copy of Mo Tackle Catalogue ($12 95)Step 3...Spend a considerable amount of time browsing said Catalogue.Step 4...Remove Considerable amount of $ from wallet.Step 5... Recieve Mo Tackle catalogue for the next 12 mths for free via mail. While Ray and Annes is cheap..... I believe Mo Tackle has a far better selection and they will match any price anyway. An added bonus is the catalogue every 3 mths which keeps you up to date on all the new products available.Good Luck Mate.

Tommy2toes reacted to Station49 in Shimano Aquatip 902 rod for salmon
Rod looks good for salmon lure casting. But based on the specs you will risk damage to your gear running 50g lures and 10kg braid. The rod is rated for max 30g lures [usually a bit of give in this but the risk is that the tip wont load up properly during casting and could snap or compromise casting distance] and 6-8kh line, once again running 10kg line risks damage to the rod should you try to exert in excess of 8kg of pressure.Otherwise looks like a good rod, would be a good lure casting combo with a reel somewhere in the 2500 - 3000 size bracket, and loaded with about 15lb braid. Good to cast 20g and maybe up to 35g lures a mile.
