im going cockleing for the first time later this month. ive hear that the best time is low tide. ill be using a net as the waves wash back out im hoping the get trapped in the net. keep moving around the beach until u find them. hope this helps.
i dont have much luck with snapper but if you sound around the channel and mark up sum good ground or fish anchor up (outside the channel markers) and get a burly trail going sit back and wait. eventually somthing should swim past. goodluck
hey mate. iv never kept a shark but i was on youtube the other day and watched a guy fillet a gummy. just look up somthing like how to fillet a gummy shark and it should pop up. goes for about 10 mins. and he makes it look reeeeeeaaaal eaay. goodluck.

you can also try doubleing the line over on itself blowing your baloon up and put the doubled over line through the knot before you tighten it. cut the rubber ring off. let it float out to your distance then jerk the line really hard a couple times. the loop wiil pull through the knot in the baloon and the bait will fall to the sea bed. works well.
wasnt there a dolphin fish also caught our from outer or st kilda last year. mite have been in sa angler or wild coast. :whistle: wouldnt barra eat everythin if they find their way in the okn? say goodbye to bream, mullet and salmon.
