Went fishing off the Brighton jetty from 9pm to 12am. The water very calm. Plan was fishing for whiting but ended up with 28 tommies. Good size too. They all stocked for bait. Hundred of them under the jetty but really slow biting. No whiting at all.

Just a warning guys, that there has been a lot of car break ins at the ramp last two weeks, 3 cars last night and not sure on how many last Thursday but was a few also! It's been the cars that have been there overnight getting done, smashed windows , ransacked etc...... Bloody c@&k heads! Why do this ? Hope they get caught. Maybe for this busy period security should be provided, this has been going on for two weeks now and nutting has been done! Surely cop cars every half to and hour doin a patrol is NOT unreasonable is it???? One guy had his two baby seats in the back of the car with smashed glass all over them, felt so sorry for the bloke as he may have to replace them as well if cant be cleaned on top of stolen items, smashed glass etc! Hope the people get hit by a truck actually , if they get caught they prob just do it again!!!!Sorry for the bad news guys. Cheers !

As it was a nice day today, we decided to head down to Goolwa and grab ourselves a feed. The beach was busy as buggery and getting hit hard. That included the guy who thought his AWD was a 4WD, and got himself bogged at the entrance to the beach, holding up a lengthy string of traffic until a recovery vehicle pulled him out.We only travelled down the beach about 500m, before pulling in, coz we didn't need a great deal, as we only wanted a feed not bait, and expected to get what we wanted in about half an hour.It was a little harder than usual, no doubt due to the sheer numbers working the beach. We stopped at 367, as that's all we needed for a good feed, yet even between me and the missus digging, it still took us near on 2 hours to get this many.Good sizes, with very few small ones amongst them which required measuring. They're purging in seawater overnight, and tomorrow is cook-up time! Bl**dy long way to go, a lot of fuel, and a fair bit of work for a feed though....beats watching cricket though! No pics this time, as you've all seen a cockle before.

It was always going to happen! Its a working jetty and they simply cant take the gamble of letting irresponsible fisherman trash and potentially burn the place down. Sad but expected!

I got a Berkley dropshot from BCF for $60 when they had this crazy sale going on (UNfortunately, it is $119 now) and paired it with a Shimano Aernos 1000.

Like a few people were saying, Sunline super PE is definitely the best value for money, super thin, smooth and casts amazing. I have it and am yet to get a wind knot, while fins knots up all the time.

I reckon I read somewhere (not sure where) that Shimano and PowerPro are "in bed" together ........sounds like the same relationship as at my place  if that's the case

I saw them in a store in Phucket earlier this year......I just laughed at it, and the proprietor got quite offended  Bought some crap from him just to "smooth things over" as I was just in there looking anyway........spent about $30 AU which was a "weeks sales" for him Got 2 spools of PowerPro 30lb braid,300m, for $20 AU......still in the cupboard!...........the other 10 bux worth of crap,I just gave to 2 kid's looking in the shop window and dreaming..........hooks,floats,line etc......they thought all their Christmas's had come at once .......was great to see their smiles though, true thankfulness

I've got 10lb fireline crystal for the sambos. Its abit over kill for the ones ive caught so far which are 25-35cm. But for bigger ones you can still put alot of hurt on them with 10lb. Fireline is cheap and casts well. Only thing is that it knotted up a couple of times but quite easy to undo because the line is stiffish.

For 15-20lb I'd def go Sunline Super PE. Easily the best value braid on the market. A 20lb leader will be plenty for throwing lures around.

i only use 20lb leader throwing metal slugs around the beaches... on the more rougher bigger surf beaches you may want to upgrade the leader size

ive been using fins and power pro and not realy happy with the both of them, there alright once the lines wet but they dry out heaps when you got them sitting at home. i think ill give fireline a go next time.

Power Pro or Stren Microfuse. The 2lb Microfuse (white) I have on my Jewel has been going strong for nearly 3 years now. Great stuff, can't recommend it highly enough. The Power Pro I really like, but I've found the Moss Green colour to be impossible to see and so I don't really like it for lure casting any more.

I have Power Pro Braid on 2 of my reels. They work fine. I have had Fins braid on another one of my reels and that has been good as well. For you application I would go for around 10-15lb braid.

depends on what your chasing mate? id say 15lb would be your base start... i use fireline and havent had any problems.... if i were you though i would take it to your local tackle shop and get them to spool it with there "bulk" spools its alot cheaper then theres no wastage aswell

This is late report. Went fishing to Outer Harbour last saturday morning and caught 5 undersize snapper 30cm - 35cm and surprised with the shark. This is my first ever snapper and shark. The snapper bite on squid tentacle and worm. Undersize but there is always start for anything. All released. Good to see the snapper coming closer to the shore so hopefully, will hook the big one next time . http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=CavB7oipy9Q Sorry the video a bit shaky.
