I like the abu's, but LOVE my Okuma magnetix for beach casting. Great reel, but I can't use it anymore. Casts better than boyo's Abu 7000

Or, use 2x7/0 hooks about 8-10cm apart and rig your Livie so that the bottom hook is thru the shoulder and the top hook is nearer his tail. Less tangles, and some fish like to eat their prey head first

A rod "blank" is the rod itself, asin the "stick" part without guides, grips etc.It can be hard to pick a reel if you can't put it on your rod. I don't buy one without trying it on the other.A "bait runner" has the ability to almost free spool your reel. It will let a fish run with your bait, then with a wind of the handle, it will go back to using its normal drag the same as a normal spin reel. Btw, general info, other may wish to elaborate. Btw2, I love baitrunners!Cheers

Cut the handle off a knife/fork/spoon, drill a hole either end, add a split ring to both ends and a hook to the heavier end. It's worked for me and others, and they don't rust if you use stainless!!!

What annoys me about the big mags is commercialism. Talk more about bait fishing and easily accessible types/forms of fishing and I'll buy it.

I use the bridle when chasing some fish. The other option is a double smelled gang, with one hook in the shoulder, and another toward the back. If using a live gar, one hook thru the tail wrist and a smaller "stinger" below seems to work for me.

If you're looking at rods, these days most have "spin", "o/head" or "baitcast" written on them. Eg. Sahara graphite 732 6-8kg spin means it is 7feet, 3inches long, 2 piece, suits 6 to 8kg line and that it is designed to be used with an eggbeater/spin/threadline reel

I caught a doggie on 1 on the weekend! Couldn't believe it. I'm the dogshark whisperer I think. Yea, they work, as do the baitchaser rigs. Just gotta have patience
