unless you throwing weighted cut pillies out (GOOD LUCK WITH THAT) burly wont help to much off the rocks as current runs fast in the channel but you will catch fish there if you keen, and pick ya tides as sam said... BTW whats wrong with Tommies i love catching them for bigger bigger fish

With the weather looking good today, i went to Outer Harbour about 8am with nothing really particular in mind what to fish. My plan was fishing down the end of the breakwall but i only got half way as my leg were hurting. Didn't waste my time, i setup my rod and start fishing with squid head as a bait. Five minute later, something grab my bait and it was dog shark... and again and again and again... five dog shark in a raw?!. Really annoying but they really give a good fight. With just dog shark taking my bait, i just wanted to go home but when i about to pack my thing suddenly seeeesss...seeeesssssssssssssssss... my reel running very fast. Grab my rod and let it run for awhile but when i realised my line getting short i try to give it a fight. Really heavy. My mind start debating "is this ray?" but it running very fast. It probably a mulloway too. After fighting for maybe 3 or 4 minute, my 10kg line snapped and the fish escape . Lesson for me (use much bigger line).Upset but satisfying at the same time as this is the first time i fight fish that heavy. Even if i managed to land the fish, thinking of how i get there i will have to release it . So that it for me today. I didn't catch any fish but surely I'll be back :cheer:

I park my MSP ute out front when i go out night fishing a BIG THANK YOU for telling the snoopers to piss off....I'm sure boaties happy to pay extra 50 cents on fees at that ramp if it meant we could fish without the worries off coming back and finding our cars tampered with or worse..u could sleep easy...BTW if i see anyone looking suspicious i will ask what they doing be it there or anywhere else..

There are already a few cameras installed in St Kilda, specifically one at the entrance to town which captures number plates and a couple mounted high up on the hill in the park. A young man was busted a few weeks back for painting graffiti due to them. Hopefully they install more around the boat ramp/car park and our shop. Sick of getting up in the middle of the night to tell people snooping around to piss off.

Man, I think Snook away from rocks and jetties and that is about thinking outside the box.You can go trolling around in the hopes of discovering a school, this works. For a "make them come to you" session, here's what I find works;Get yourself into Tommie and Gar mode! Nice surface slick of oil and grain. Then as miraculously happens, the tommies & or Gar appear outta nowhere. Sometimes even slimey macks or whatever. This is fun fishing in itself right, unwieghted or floating gents and yer into a good bread n butter sesh.Stick a big rod down cos wherever this action is goin on, you never know if a snapper or 10 are close by a squid jig on a handline ready to go too if a squadron of Squidlies Cruz through!!!!This is the set up that once established and underway is going to produce SNOOK! Many people won't even notice them unless they pull in half a gar or they are really fired up and start getting airborne :woohoo: So when all is going well, grab yer pre rigged soft plastics rod with a 4" minnow and work it at the back and edges of the burley hungry Tommie n Gar......SMASH! THUD! JESUS those snook hit a lure hard!!!! My old man uses a very fine wire trace to avoid getting SNOOKED too frequently, but man they are fun what ever way you go.I find them the hardest fish to land.... They get boatside and are then absolute bastards for chomping through leader hahaha! GOTTA LOVE THOSE SNOOOOOOK!

I like to "harvest"the goolwa pipi personally, using the age old tradition of floundering around aimlessly in the wash an being walloped bye incoming dumpers, also protecting the pipi by supplying them a pair of sunglasses annually Cheers 4THA

Here it is from PIRSAArea restrictions remain in place at Goolwa Beach until the end of the season, with fishers only permitted to take Pipi along the stretch of beach from the Murray Mouth to 5 km south of Beach Road, Goolwa Beach. A closure is in place from 5 km south of Beach Road, Goolwa Beach to Middleton Point (near Mill Terrace at Middleton). The season will reopen on 1 November 2012.Collecting cockles is the way to go. a good idea is take non fishers with you so you can take the bag limit per person but remember the possesion limits are in place as well.Im heading down thursday and continually re stock after a surf. Probably will buy a cockle rake/net to make life easier this year. or sit back and let the kids do it they love it.I havent bought cockles for several years so you can spend your money on better quality equipment.

dont forget the sun screen either it dont feel like it but you will get sunburnt ,and dont forget to let your tyres down a bit before heading along the beach track as the last time i went there i had to help someone out of a bog right in the middle of the track as they didnt let there tyres down ,apart from pissing me of i nearly got creamed by some dick coming over the other way when helping these people out, so let your tyres down because if not i will drive straight past and get all the cockles, seriously when people dont do this it churns up the exit to the beach something cronic they just gun there vehicles and tear it to peices then you have trouble getting back of the beach to go home

How hard? let me explainSuper G & I went last year for our first time, I need a knee replacement & she hasn't worked for 2 years coz of illnesses. drove to the carpark(all bitumen) and walked 50 feet to the waters edge and dug 3-4 inches and bingo 450 cockles in 40 minutes.I believe this area is off limits so you gotta go down the beach a ways by car/4x4 so we are going as a group this year hopefully as I have a AWD but haven't been off road really yet.As for the measurers phone PIRSA, the girl there is great & I had them & crab measurers & stickers & info the next day FREE in the mail box. RegardsSnakePS watch out for rogue waves they sat us on our assesPPS between my first & second knuckles of my thumb is 37 mm so any under that size i just threw back

Have you though about going down to Goolwa & getting a few.Last year, my wife & son went down & met up with some other Strike & Hookers. We got our quota of 900 in 1 1/2 hours & had a ball.Cost was about $50 for fuel, so it was worth while day with a bit of fun.We don't use a lot of cockles these days as we use a lot of squid tentacles as a preferred bait. For about 2 years now I haven't used any bought bait as we are always catching squid, slimies, STs, tomies and whiting heads for bait.I know this doen't answer your question, but my two bobs worth
